In this case Marquis states that the moral for anti-abortionists is that it is “seriously wrong to take a human life” (Marquis 184) and in the eyes of those that are pro-choice “it is only prima facie seriously wrong to take the life of a member of the human community” (Marquis 184). He understands that each case is delicate in its morals and rights as not only humans, but people and members of a community as well. He also concludes that as both sides are essentially in a standoff as they both have equal and conflicting morals. He dissects further and sees that both sides would attempt to further develop their morals, as to counter the other. He states that in attempting to better their arguments, anti-abortionists state that it is “seriously wrong to end the life of a human being” (Marquis 185) where as those that are pro-choice attempt to differentiate the difference between humans and people in their cause. In this essay, the author

  • Analyzes how marquis states that the moral for anti-abortionists is that it is "seriously wrong to take a human life" while those that are pro-choice attempt to differentiate the difference between humans and people in their cause.
  • Analyzes how marquis starts with an absolute and works towards the morality of abortion. he first looks at the wrongness of killing people and what makes it wrong.
  • Analyzes how marquis uses the value of a future like ours account to create the argument that it would be immoral to kill them prematurely.
  • Compares marquis' discontinuation account with his own account, which is plausible, but differs in some ways. the past of the person that dies has no relevance in this case.
  • Compares the desire account with marquis' account of the value of what is missed out upon death.
  • Analyzes how marquis tries to show that his accounts are thought out and apply to each being, but lacks the idea of personhood and the right of anyone else in the matter.
  • Analyzes how marquis argues that contraception is wrong based on these arguments, but he does not think that it is himself. he believes that stopping the zygote via contracept is a moral act.
  • Analyzes how restates that killing beings that are alive is wrong, and killing cells that have not bonded to create a being is not. he places the fetus and abortion in the mix of both.
  • Opines that warren is the more right in her justification that personhood and equal rights of everyone are what is needed before the life of the fetus versus anything else.
  • Analyzes how warren shows that there are ways to look at the rights of others as well as the fetus, even though the argument is flawed, and elaborates on a better course to prove that abortion is not immoral.
  • Analyzes warren's argument that abortion isn't immoral, stating that the fetus is not a person.
  • Analyzes how marquis shows his thoughts on the subject and proves that his theory can still be sound while making his claim. he does well to talk about the stance that people take and how they come to conclusions.
  • Opines that marquis does a wonderful job, but they think that warren is the better of the philosophers.

Her conclusions inevitably remain sound with her original thesis, stating that the fetus is not a person and as such, abortion is not immoral, but she does take the time to discuss were some might venture to in order to find holes in her theory.
Marquis also does this, as when he discusses how people may assume that his value of a future like ours account also can apply to the use of contraception, despite his thinking that it is not. He takes the time to show his thoughts on the subject and furthermore, prove that his theory can still be sound while he makes his claim. He also does well to talk about the stance that people take and how they come to the conclusions they make, even better than Warren does in her writing and he is able to shift from what they think to what he theorizes very
