Two important, mighty Asian empires in history are the Ottoman Empire and the Ming China. These two empires are in totally different areas of Asia – the Ottomans were in the very west, the Chinese were in the oriental east. Therefore, these two empires, naturally, formed completely different cultures. However, surprisingly, these empires had many parts in common as well. The Ottoman Empire and the Ming Dynasty had both many different and distinct parts, as well as many similarities.
The Ottoman Empire and the Ming Dynasty of China had many differences. This was mainly because of their locations, which was two totally different areas of Asia. The two empires formed a different culture, religion, history, society, and economy. The Ottoman Empire and the Ming Dynasty were, in some ways, completely different.
First, their geographic locations were different. The two empires were located at the opposite ends of the silk road – the Ottomans in the west, the Chinese in the East. Ming China formed around the Huang He River and the Chang Jiang river, an excellent place for agriculture. Not surprisingly, the Ming Economy base largely on farming. The Ottoman empire, on the other hand, formed around the Mediteranean Sea, where trading was prevalent.
Next, the start of the two empires was completely different. The Ottoman Empire grew as they conquered other nations. The Ming Dynasty, on the other hand, started as a rebellion against the Mongols. The first ruler of the Ottomans, Osman I, was a ghazis, or an Islamic warrior, while Hongwu, the first Ming emperor, was a peasant who led a rebel army.

Finally, both the Ottoman empire and the Ming Dynasty declined because of the same reason. The reason both empires fell was because of weak rulers. The latter Ming Emperors were weak and corrupt, and because the Ming Dynasty was imperial, the rulers weakness deteriorated the empire drastically. The Ottomans locked up the heirs in the royal palace, which left them with no experience with governing.
The Ottoman Empire and the Ming Dynasty had many differences and similarities. Both had different origins, government, religions, economy, society, and history. However, the two empires were similar in the empire's vastness, their economic and military strength, the emperor's power, and their decline. The Ottoman Empire and the Ming Dynasty were some of the greatest empires in Asia, as well as in the world.
