The Process of Writing
Throughout my whole life I have been taught to write many different ways and on how I should approach my writing assignments in and outside of class. But there was one particular method that was taught a lot more than others such as the five paragraphs method. Some assignments were very easy that I could write off the back of my head and some of the harder one’s I have think a lot more critically. All I ever did was follow the five paragraph process and nothing more. This is what I led to believe be my downfall in my writing skills because I was unable to use any other methods. So throughout my essay I will explain the steps of my writing process such as finding my personal space, understanding the difficulties, and changing my writing styles
Whenever I attempt to write a paper for an in class assignment I would make sure to always isolate myself from others and especially my phone. Those are the two things that would distract me and make me lose focus. I can multitask, but it’s just that if really I want my writing to be good and well thought and written out I would need my own personal space. After finding my comfortable zone I would start to just brainstorm ideas and write a few down on my paper so that I could remember my ideas. So depending on how much time I have I would make a “Shitty First Draft” which is just to plan out my ideas and get a feel of what I’m trying to say. Once I get this idea off then my next draft would be the final due to the time limit, but this is where I would make my ideas clear or whatever I am writing about. Then finally I would just go over and reread everything to make sure my spelling is correct and that I have correct grammar.

The point of the first bad draft is to put out all of your ideas and not worry about grammar or anything. So it taught me a big lesson in my writing process. I think that more teachers or students in elementary, middle or high school should read this article. If this article could help a college student like me who sometimes still struggle with writing once in a while, this will definitely help all elementary, middle, and high school students in there writing process so that they can develop these skills throughout their school life at an early age so they can be prepared for college. But as for now I am still struggling a little bit and it’s something I need to overcome in college if I want to keep chasing my major.
