The process of sanctification is a way of God exercising his grace. It is something that we as humans cannot go through on our own will (Ephesians 2:8). Sanctification is the process that we as finite humans go through in order to turn away from our old life that was slaved to sin (Romans 6:6). The Father, Son and Holy Spirit all play a role in this process. The process begins with God working through the Holy Spirit who works in us to sanctify us in Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2, 30; 6:11). The reason that God has us go through this process is so that later he can use us to fulfill his will (2 Timothy 2:21). It was because of Jesus and the blood that he shed that we were saved and made holy (Hebrews 13:12). Christ is the source of our …show more content…

Horton believes that sanctification happens when a person decides to end their old ways of living. I believe it is a process that God has us go through so that we are better equipped to follow his plan for our lives. I also believe that this process is a way of God showing us his love for us through his unfailing grace. This process is something that we go through to make us more and more like our heavenly Father.
I believe that this is a process that we as finite humans cannot do on own. Sanctification is a process that can only be done by a divine individual. I believe that each person of the Trinity is involved in the process. God the Father is the one who begins the process by sending the Holy Spirit to work in us. Then we are sanctified in Christ because of the blood he shed during the crucifixion.
Doctrine as Direction: This doctrine helps me realize that I am not the only one going through this process. It helps me realize how much love God has for us. He loves us enough to create us and desire for us to become holy. This doctrine also helps me realize that I am not the only one who is going to fail while going through this continuous process. The fact that I know I am going through a process that will make me more and more like my heavenly Father who is perfect is truly inspiring. Even though we as finite creatures cannot go through this process on our own will it is reassuring to know that there is someone who is able to help us
