The Power of Universal Education

Time does not wait for anyone who is not quick enough to keep up with it. In order for students to get ahead and succeed, students must learn and study when it is time, not when the students are already out of school. In order for the students to receive the same information, students must all adopt a universal education system. That would mean a standard kindergarten to grade twelve and then post-secondary after-words. A group of people proposed an extra year of school at the cost of the tax players. The government does not agree, and everyone should support them. There are too many variables in the fifth year that could affect the future of students. The government cannot simply afford to fund an extra year, students are given ample time to learn everything in twelve years and since eliminating grade thirteen more students have moved onto post secondary education, why should Canada not receive universal education while the rest of the world does?
The Canadian government is under one of the biggest financial crisis in modern times. Everything is being cut down and reduced. At this time the community cannot afford to misspend the tax payer’s money. People’s wages are being frozen, people are getting fired and stress is at all time high. There is now a need for more new and creative ways to make more money. At this point, funding a fifth year is absolutely out of the question. The province is fifteen billion dollars in debt and by cutting the fifth year we will save about twenty two million dollars (CBC), therefore reducing debt. The idea is that every dollar matters. ... as well. This will work for students who come back for an extra year to reaffirm what they already know or build upon their knowledge. Forcing students headed to university to be one year behind all of their out of province peers is unfair and creates unnecessary separation between them. The money saved by cutting the thirteenth grade can be used for extracurricular activities, helping the school and further improving the quality of a student’s educational journey.
