The article I used for this is “The People Who Make You Fat” by Laura Beil. I found this article on April twenty-first. It relates to epidemiology because it deals with the causes of weight gain and potential obesity. The article says that stressful relationships can cause people to gain weight in addition to being toxic to people’s patience as well thier mental health. The article references a study that tracked more than three thousand adults whose ages ranged from their thirties through their forties. Through they study; researchers found that those who had more “negative relationships” gained more fat in their stomach over a fifteen year span than those who did not (Beil, 2014). The study defined negative relationships by asking how often friends, family, co-workers, and so on let them down, criticized them, made ridiculous demands, or just plain got on their nerves.
