The Outsiders Theme

One theme from the novel is friends will always have your back. The theme relates to the novel because the greasers helped each other. Such as when the Socs drowned Ponyboy, Johnny took the switchblade and killed Bob.When the church was on fire Ponyboy ran to save the kids and Johnny came too. Johnny helped Ponyboy out from the church on fire when he did Johnny was still in the church screaming trying to get out but he couldn't. Dally also helped Johnny from the church on fire. They have became heroes for saving the kids in the fire. Dally wanted to win the fight for Johnny, he told Two-Bit to give him the switchblade so he can get out of the hospital, so he joined the fight when he was not suppose to because one of his arms were bruised,

It shows how they stick together when there are rough times in society of being a greaser. Johnny has saved Ponyboy’s life when the Socs were drowning him so Johnny took the switchblade and killed one of the Socs named Bob. Ponyboy and Johnny were always together such as when Darry and Ponyboy were arguing, Ponyboy ran away, and joined with Johnny they both had became murders for killing Bob. Dally has helped Ponyboy and Johnny for killing Bob he told them that they should go to the country so the police won’t find them, he gave them a gun, and money. Ponyboy and Johnny were hiding in a church after few weeks Dally came and told them that they were safe. When the church was on fire Ponyboy and Johnny helped to save the kids from the fire they have became heroes for saving the kids also Dally helped and became a hero too. Dally loved Johnny he always cared about him when anybody was bothering him. When Johnny died Dally robbed a grocery store and got shot and killed by the police for Johnny. Ponyboy had a hard time when Johnny died he told himself that Johnny didn't die. Also Ponyboy told Randy not to tell that Johnny killed Bob but he did. This shows that the pictures relate to the theme because it shows how the greasers have helped each
