Sometimes we take for granted to right to read books, but in some cases it isn't a right, it's a privilege. States have been banning books for years, and it brings up the question, should there be certain books be banned? The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton was first banned in 1986, however this book pertains two important reasons why it shouldn't be banned, being a good friend, and what it is like to grow up rich/poor. The Outsiders is a book about to gangs, the Greasers and the Socs. The Greasers are poor, some orphans, trying to survive the hard life of the street. The main character is Ponyboy, and he has two brothers, Sodapop and Darrel, and they all belong with the Greasers. The Socs treat the Greasers really badly, and they have to overcome
The book The Outsiders is the realistic story about this between two very different groups in a town in the United States: the poor Greasers from the east side, and the Socs, whitch is what the greasers call the socials, the richer boys from the other side of the town. Ponyboy Curtis is the narrator of the story, a 14-year-old boy who lives with his two older brothers, Darry and Soda. He is a pretty good athlete and student, but is not treated the same as the richer students at his school. Ponyboy uses to have long hair that he greases back, a symbol of being in the outsider gang. He is unhappy with his situation, because Darry is too protective of him and he always has to be afraid of Socs attacking him.
The Outsiders and The Wednesday Wars deal with misunderstandings among young people in the 1960’s and show how people can form friendships despite their differences. The Outsiders by S.E. The book and the movie, The Outsiders, are both awesome. They both are very exciting and scary and crazy. It basically tell how the Soc and Greasers do not get along and it causes so much drama and tension between each other. As all this drama goes on the “gang” of greasers are always there for each other and helping each other out when they are having a rough time. The Outsiders is a great book that involves friendship and leadership. The setting is in Tulsa Oklahoma. Some main things in the story are when Ponyboy and Johnny run away. Then the Socs come and tries to drown Ponyboy in the park in the fountain. Then Johnny kills a guy that is in the gang with the Socs.

The Outsiders is about a gang called the Greasers, who has rivals with the “popular” group, the SOCs. Teenage boys, Ponyboy and Johnny have a fight with the SOCs and kills a boy. Ponyboy and Johnny are forced to go into hiding. Major differences include Dally’s death, the Curtis boy’s relationship, and the hearing for Ponyboy.

The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is a well explained novel about two rival gangs who feel only hate for each other. However, the gang gives them a home and develops true loyalty. Dallas Winston, a tough and rugged greaser best shows that one single character is able to have two completely opposing personalities. Dally is a wanted delinquent for many different crimes but is truly devoted to his own gang.
The Outsiders, written by S.E Hinton, 1967 and produced(as a movie) by Fred Roos and Gray Frederickson in 1983, is about life as a hood, also known as juvenile delinquent, against the Socs, people in a richer or higher class. The main character Ponyboy goes through many challenges, like Johnny killing Bob, getting jumped, even knowing that Johnny and Dally are dead (at the end). The movie and the novel have similarities but also differences. While both of them showed the story in different ways, they both stuck to the same storyline. The movie added sound and visual representation of the novel. However, the novel really depended on the reader’s imagination to create the storyline and the characters. Ponyboy and his two brothers, Darrel (Darry), who is 20, and Sodapop, who is 16, have recently lost their parents in an automobile accident. Pony and Soda are allowed to stay under Darry's guardianship as long as they all behave themselves. The boys are greasers, a class term that refers to the young men on the East Side, the poor side of town. The greasers' rivals are the Socs, short for Socials, who are the "West-side rich kids."
