Genetically modified organisms (GMO) have only recently become a part of the modern food landscape, but they are already showing great promise and need favorable legislation. With genetic modification, bioengineers have the impressive ability to tweak organisms to suit the needs of the consumer. At present, their abilities are limited, but with the continuation of advanced research in the field, we will begin to see more profound changes emerging in GMOs. Genetically modified food is a fantastic opportunity to advance society because it can be healthier, more resilient, and more efficient than conventional products. Genetically modified crops already have the potential to be much healthier than conventional equivalents. With natural crops you are limited to the nutrients that are produced by default with that crop. A varied diet will make up for the deficiencies of each food’s nutrients, but it can be limiting in situations where it is difficult to have a reliable and varied diet.
