Hosting the Olympic Games in U.S. cities has had both pros and cons, however, so far the pros have significantly outweighed the cons. Salt Lake City, Atlanta, and Los Angeles are three cities that all made substantial profits from welcoming the Olympics. For each city, hosting the Olympics brought a spotlight to the city, improved infrastructure, and boosted tourism, as well as entertainment. For U.S. host cities, the venues built are still being put to use, none have fallen into debt, and white elephants don’t exist. While hosting the Olympics can be a gamble for other countries, in the U.S.A., it feels safe to declare any Olympics a winner, deserving a gold medal.
The greatest athletes of all time have their names set in stone. Every year a new star comes out of the shadows and becomes the focus of global interest. Nations back their athletes financially to ensure they receive a medal. Winning gold in the Olympics Games is seen as the highest honor an athlete can achieve because of its prestigious image. The Olympics have not always been about the athletes.
Introduction: Sports events are becoming popular to the world, Therefore many countries are competing to host a major sport event like the Olympics and the world cup. This report is divided into three parts; first part is about the selection procedure, second part describes the advantages and finally the disadvantages. Selection procedure: Two of the biggest sport events worldwide are the Olympics and the world cup whereas both of the events are hosted every four years. However, the host of the event is decided through a bidding process which various cities or countries were invited to bid for the right to host the event. In addition, in relation to the Olympic Games the National Olympic Committee is responsible of deciding the cities that able to bid for the right of hosting the Olympics.
