The Olympic Games are a set of friendly competitions that bring countries from all around the world together, but many social, political, and economic problems in the past and present including racial and sexual discrimination and apartheid have prevented the Olympic Games from fulfilling their promise to bring countries together.
The Olympics are a set of games that occur every 4 years in the winter and the summer. These games bring countries from all around the world together for friendly competition.
The IOC (International Olympic Committee) is the governing body of the Olympic Games. Their headquarters are located in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The Olympics are the most important athletic competition in the world.
It brings together the world's finest athletes to compete against each other in many individual and team sports.
On August 18th, 1964, South Africa was banned from the 1964 Olympics due to its laws of apartheid. Apartheid was a former social system in South Africa in which black people and people from other racial groups did not have the same political and economic rights as white people and were forced to live separately from white people. It was a type of racial segregation similar to slavery in America.
The IOC announced that South Africa had failed to meet requirements for diversity in their Olympic team. They required South Africa to renounce their racial discrimination in sports and oppose the ban in its own country on competition between white and black athletes. South Africa failed to comply with the demand and was banned from the Olympic Games. The South Africans announced in that they would be include seven non-whites in their team of 62 Olympiads but the action was not enough for the IOC.

...which no country had boycotted the Games and many bans had been lifted. 169 nations took part in the opening parade which showed the many political changes the world had seen since the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988.New flags were introduced in the opening ceremony parade. Germany also competed as one country which it hadn’t done since 1964, after the collapse of the Berlin Wall. South Africa returned to the Olympics after 32 years due to the end of apartheid.
With all the countries coming together in peace without issue is social because there is social harmony between the Olympic teams and no political tensions.
The Olympic Games are made to pull all the worlds countries together in harmony for competition. Countries laws against prevent that from happening along with racial discrimination banning South Africa for apartheid and the two men showing black pride.
