Eat yourself sick McDonald’s is delicious and convenient, and only cost a few dollars. On days were you are extremely busy they are there to serve whatever you would like from the menu. Sometimes it seems as though you can access it quicker than a trip to the grocery store. Even though, you know you will be hungry again later, you still pull up and go through the drive thru and place the order. Obesity can lead to disease and other health issues. Health issues that can be, in fact reversed by changing the type of foods we consume on a daily. Yet, because of the demand in the lives of people with less time, spent at home able to prepare meals the alternative can have a poor effect on one’s overall health. First, looking at high calorie, high fat content, and hidden sugar meals, have you ever took into consideration how fast food meals are prepared or for that matter what is the difference in how you would cook your own meals at home. Fast food restaurants, their meals are high calorie dense foods with added ingredients we would not knowingly truly put into our bodies. For instance, “fast foods from most major chains contain unacceptably high levels of industrially produced trans-fatty acids” (Stender S). The International Journal of Obesity did chemical analyses of 74 samples of fast food menus in 35 countries from 2005-2006, not all fast foods are created equal their findings revealed that “fat content of 41-65g at McDonalds and 42-74g at KFC” (Stender S). Heart disease, is a number one killer, and is preventable with a healthy diet and exercise. Indeed so are most cancers, and diabetes. Most people with diabetes are overweight. Something else that also plays a role is sex, and ethnicity according to Howard LeWine, chief medical editor for Harvard Health Publications, men were twice as likely to die from a preventable heart attack or stroke as women, and African Americans were twice as likely to die from a preventable heart attack or stroke as Caucasians (1).
