Godzilla Takes Japan Is Godzilla a representation of a metaphor based on the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan? This representation is brought to life in the 1954 Japanese original film "Godzilla” directed by Ishirō Honda. This essay will argue that Godzilla is portrayed as a metaphor produced by the bombings of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, as well as a Hydrogen bomb that was tested too close to a Japanese fishing vessel, Godzilla proves that Japan is cursed by the incidents that occurred on August 6-9th, 1945 and March 1st, 1954. The explosive was codenamed "Little Boy" which held 15 Kilotons of TNT, it was the smaller one of the pair. It was the very first atomic bomb to ever be detonated which justifies the devastating explosion, it was definitely the start of weapons capable of mass destruction, the explosion was so large that it was able to kill 70,000 people almost instantly and approximately 70,000 more over time from the exposure to dangerous levels of radiation. Followed by the second bomb of the pair dropped over Nagasaki, Japan on August 9th, 2016, delivered by the same aircraft that delivered the first one. Japan was not given the time to forget about the first two nuclear weapons that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 during World War 2 but was prescribed with yet another dose of terror. The film was made after the third incident, Japan was sick of being tortured by Americas Nuclear weaponry, Ishirō Honda created Godzilla to represent the anxieties the Japanese population suffered from. "Right from the beginning, we 're treated to not-so-subtle metaphors about Godzilla" (Merchant). The movie starts off with a re-enactment of the Hydrogen bomb that was dropped on Bikini Atoll, the scene shows a Japanese fishing vessel being attacked by an explosive, which then awakens Godzilla, and later on in the film Godzilla is shown ripping through the streets of Tokyo destroying and setting the whole city to flames, in the effort to become an identical match alike the bombings the United States of America unleashed over Hiroshima and Nagasaki in order to bring an end to World War 2.
