The Environment is in danger and the time has come to save it from certain destruction. The Government has been developing ideas to protect the environment since 1970. However, rising problems have developed in recent years that need more attention. Resources have been depleting at an alarming rate and alternatives need to be brought up. Effects on the environment caused by people need to be addressed. The ways people can lessen the negative effect on the environment needs to be brought to light. Envision a world filled with pollution. A place where there’s hardly any resources left and where very few organisms still exist. The more technologically advanced a society is, the more product will be produced. Then there will be a higher demand for the products produced and that only contributes to the amount of pollution in the world. Industrialization and manufacturing of goods and services have lead to an increase in carbon dioxide levels. “Carbon dioxide emissions have grown dramatically in the past century because of human activity, chiefly the use of fossil fuels such as oil and coal, as well as changes in land use such as cutting down forests” (Prb.org, 2016, 10). The increase in carbon dioxide causes temperatures to rise and that increases many health factors. The increase in population causes people to burn more and more fossil fuels and increases damage done to the environment. People have not only impacted land environments; they have also heavily damaged marine environments. “40% of the world's oceans have been heavily affected by human activities, including fishing, coastal development and pollution from shipping” (ProtectPlanet.org, 2010, 2). Pollution in the world's oceans have made ill and killed millions of marine life. Plastics that have been littered are not biodegradable, meaning they can not dissolve and disappear. Marine life such as whales and sharks have been known to accidentally swallow these objects and most of the time the animals end up dying. People have the power to change the environment.
