Although TV may not be the largest source of Media anymore, the TV has done its damage. The negative effect TV has, is a wide spread problem, it continues to grow and reach other outlets of media. Since the introduction of the TV in 1927, to the 1990’s, where by then 98 percent of homes had one, the influence the TV had is fascinating. (Barnouw, Erik. Tube of Plenty. ) Time is a precious commodity, and TV is its’ biggest thief, having as much as a 5 hour a day strangle hold on their time. With this amount of time spent in front of a TV, your health directly pays the consequence. Furthermore, your intentions may be to spend time observing educational programming, however it’s easier to be entertained with the likes of 4 hour sports contest or binge watching a reality show, as a result it affects your mind. Since we have mentioned the mind, the TV has served as a magnifying glass to a gradual moral decay in our society. Describing the TV as a thief, health hazard, magnifying glass or mind control, may seem harsh, but it definitely has its ramifications.

When morals begin to lack, it is the beginning of a snowball effect that has destroyed many greats. TV has played an integral part in moral decay in our society. What is done in moderation usually ends up in excess, and this is true when it comes to morals and TV. What was considered racy and on the edge in the 50’s and 60’s would not even garner a second look on today’s TV. Again these started in moderation, and little by little were fed to us in small doses.
