In New York, it is 83%.” All around the United States many Americans have the feeling that they are inferior to other people. This way of thinking can have a real negative effect on other races. For example, many police departments utilize racial profiling to determine whether a person looks suspicious or not. Deciding whether a person is suspicious based on looks is entirely wrong. People have to get along with each other and work well as a team. A workplace is a place where anyone can feel safe and be treated equally. Despite all the regulation on racial discrimination, it is still an ongoing battle. For instance, many coworkers are discriminating one another. Those crimes range from hate crimes to violent protests. For instance, the recent protests in Ferguson, Missouri, where an 18 year old African American male was kill because the 18 year old was murder because of his race, this cause a violent protests to burst out. This protest had the total damage of nearly $4.6 million. When any crime involving racism or a hint of it cause so much controversy and alters the judgment of many people no matter if they are right or wrong. Hate crimes also involves some kind of violence based on discrimination against human’s religion, race, and belief. Many statistics from a police report show that a majority of all the crime in America is motivated by some kind of hate towards a person’s race. For example, my uncle came from Mexico two years ago, for my grandma’s funeral. Because of the seriousness of the event, he came as fast as he could with only the clothes he had on him. With no spare clothes, my dad let him borrow some of his old clothes. My uncle was a skinny, and tall person and my dad was overall bigger than him. On the day my uncle received the clothes from my dad, he immediately used the clothes he was given. The fit was baggy but he was thankful for the clothes. Although we have laws that supposedly regulate them, many people still feel the need to commit acts of violence on people that are different than them. Many of these crimes originate with some sort of hate speech. People get ideas from other people, passed down from previous generations.
Institutions in the businesses sector are swarming in racial discrimination, much of which is covert and difficult to detect and prove. Racial discrimination excludes, marginalizes and exploits those citizens who are discriminated against, ceasing any opportunity for economic progress and development. Under certain regulations some businesses are required to diversify their workplace by hiring certain amounts of people of color, but in reality these small quotas do not do much for the overall condition of the people who are being discriminated against. The earliest form of racial discrimination against Asian Americans was encountered during the California Gold Rush. The Gold Rush attracted Chinese immigrants who came to California to fill the high demand for laborers. However, as more and more Chinese immigrated to California and the lower-paying labor jobs were filled, the Chinese began filling higher-paying positions typically held by Whites. As a result, an anti-Chinese Movement was formed followed by the enactment of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 which prevented any additional Chinese immigration into the United States. Essentially, Chinese were discriminated against by the Whites due to fear of the Chinese taking over their jobs. After World War II, the federal government ended the 1882 ban on Chinese immigration and gave citizenship to Chinese Americans born abroad (Charles and Guryan 507).

Now people can be discriminated against because of their race, religion, or any other numerous things. Also, discrimination can occur during the job interview or even after you got the job.
