I think that gay marriages should be allowed in this country and that gay people should have the same exact rights as straight people. Gay marriage really has nothing to do with the bible or religion, all because it says something about it being wrong in the bible does not make it true. People’s rights should not be based on a book. Because the same book said that owning slaves is OK as long as you don’t kill them. People just seem to make it their business of what other people do, why do you care?
Gay people are even victim to hate crimes. One time on June 24, 1973, some guys burned down a bar filled with gay people and they killed 29 people in that fire. Sounds like something you would go to jail for, right? Well they found tons of evidence for the crime but they never bothered to go further in this case. Some people think that’s because people found out that the 29 dead people were gay so they just did not care. One of the survivors in the fire was a teacher who got fired because they found out he was in the bar. Why are people so worried about this when there are more serious things happening in the world. Children are dying every day because they have no food, pollution is getting worse, and there are still wars going on.
Most young voters say that same-sex marriage equality is a given to society. Even some of the people that are against it that are not stubborn say that they will eventually lose. The first known article about gay people and marriages was in 1989. The idea was relatively new at the time and it spread fast, but everyone was all like “WAAAAAHH you talkin’ ‘bout.” But the reason that it spread so fast was because people thought was it as an obvious idea.

If someone that is not a part of a religion is being forced by religious people that they can not marry is that not also a form of being forced to worship a religion? How would we feel if some religion or someone else forced their beliefs onto us? We probably would not feel that great so why do we do this to gay people? All they want is to have the right to marry I do not think that, that is too much to ask for. As a nation, I think we have no right to take away the privilege of marriage from two people who wish to commit to a relationship with whom they love. Legalizing gay marriage has been a controversial topic in the past few years. In my opinion, gay people should be allowed to get married because it is a civil right. It shouldn 't matter what gender they prefer because they 're still regular people. Making gay marriage illegal, is the same as taking away someone 's freedom and civil rights. That is unethical and completely awful. There 's no harm being done by letting two people who are in love with each other get married. The primary issue is that throughout the years, LGBT people were looked down upon and not accepted for who they are. Religion was one of the primary sources for the anti-gay movement. Media wouldn’t show gays on television, books that feature LGBT characters would always be killed off for no reason except because of who they were. If the line is clearly drawn in the sand between church and state it will ultimately be for the betterment of many. Members of the clergy will no longer fear the repercussions of performing marriages for the select homosexual couples who wish to be joined in their church of their choosing. What would it be like for hate and discrimination to follow someone all because of their preference on love? Same-sex couples fall in love only to realize that they are not “supposed” to be together. These couples cannot even enjoy every day activities that other couples may take for granted. Many same-sex couples are discriminated against because they are not what others consider the social norm. The religion in which many Americans believe in is Catholic. The general outlines to Catholic religion are referenced throughout the bible; nowhere in the bible does it say that same-sex marriage is at all acceptable. Therefore many religious minorities believe that marriage is only acceptable between a man and a woman. If America prides itself on being the home of freedom and hope, anyone who is truly in love should be married when they want to be. If all marriages were treated equally, America could live up to being the home of the free. By denying same-sex unions America is violating the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Hence, denying same-sex couples the right to be married is unconstitutional.
Gay and lesbian unions have been for a long time a subject that no one liked to discuss. For the last few decades, gays and lesbians have come out and expressed their sexuality preferences. Many believe that same sex marriage should not be legalized because it's against the moral. It's against the definition of marriage, which is considered as the union of a man and a woman as a husband and wife. On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution guarantees the right for same-sex couples to marry. Should gay marriages be legal? Clearly we as a nation are undecided on this issue. Thirty-six states have passed legislation banning gay marriages, yet a few states have passed laws that allows homosexual couples the right to participate in civil unions. Several other states are also debating whether or not to allow these couples to marry. Unfortunately, the dispute has left the United States' homosexual community in an awkward position. There are some people who think that gay people have no rights and should never be allowed to marry, and others believe that gay people should enjoy the same rights and privileges as heterosexuals. I think that the United States should allow same-sex couples to marry just like heterosexual couples.
In conclusion I argue that banning same-sex marriage is discriminatory. It is discriminatory because it denies homosexuals the many benefits received by heterosexual couples. The right to marriage in the United States has little to do with the religious and spiritual meaning of marriage. It has a lot to do with social justice, extending a civil right to a minority group. This is why I argue for same-sex marriage. The freedom to marry regardless of gender preference should be allowed.
Marriage is the joining of a man and a woman, who loves one another and wants to spend the rest of their lives together. It is not the joining of two women or two men and I do not believe the society our or U.S. government redefine the true meaning of marriage. I am against same sex marriage because of the following several reasons. Gay marriages are unacceptable in my opinion because it goes against God’s words. God’s word is the truth and no one can change it.
Marriage is just one way for two people to show their love for another. Whether it is two men, two women, or a man and a woman, love is love. People against gay marriage do not have the right to deny people of showing their love for one another. Everyone deserves the same rights as Americans and also just as people. The United States of America promotes freedom, liberty, and justice for all people. Same-sex couples are many times not included when it comes to marriage rights.
