The Mother series is a trilogy of rpgs, or role playing games, with very funny and quirky humor. They were created by Japanese celebrity Shigesato Itoi in 1989, 1995, and 2006, and they quickly became a cult classic in the U.S. The 1st and 3rd games were never released in America even though Mother 2 developed a massively devoted following. Some fans were so devoted that they spent two years on a translation patch, so every could enjoy the game in English. Some were disappointed by how different from Mother 2 it was, but others were just happy to at last be playing it. The two games may seem very different, but the amount of things they do have in common would shock some people. The story, music, and gameplay all have their own similarities and differences.

Mother 2 was created in 1994 in japan and in America in the year 1995 under the name Earthbound. The story is about a group of kids that go on an adventure to save to world from the evil Giygas, but it’s more about the little things and the journey along the way.
