The Most Amazing Game Growing up, I have always loved softball. Even when we lost, I have always enjoyed playing the game and partaking in the wave of emotions it brought forth onto me, and many other committed players. By committed players I mean people who literally put all their free time into the sport, and the players who live by the phrase “no pain no gain.” If those burpees didn't burn every extremity in your body while working out in the off season, then what was the point in doing ten sets of ten? By committed I also mean that the sport affects your attitude even after the game is over, if I didn't hit well last night, you can bet I`ll be in the cages bright and early in the morning taking swings. We would make an awesome play, and then they would retaliate with another. This was literally how the entire game went up until the seventh inning. They were the home team and had come back again to tie us at six to six. We finally got three outs to retire the side and go hit. My first teammate who would approach the plate would be the girl who hits right in front of me. Therefore I would be the second batter. As she walked i knew in my head that it was my duty and a power hitter to score her, even though she was only on first at this time. I had adjusted my swing to the speed of the pitcher, and roared back to slap the ball with all my might. The pitcher received her signs and approached the mound, in attempt to shut me down. As she swung her arm in a circle and released it at her hip, I kept my watchful eye on the ball the entire time. In my mind I was going to knock any ball she pitched me out of the park, which is an awful mindset to have for an attempt at the plate, but it happened either way. The pitcher pitched the ball and with contact towards the ball I heard a loud “pop” noise, and took off sprinting to first base. Yet, my ground ball had advanced the runner we had on base to second. As I looked up at the enthusiastic crowd, I knew this game was not over. We still had two more outs to receive, which is favorable for sending a runner on second to home plate. Next at bat after me was a slap hitter, who bunted the ball down the first base line and took the out, yet our runner on second was not fast enough to advance to three, so she remained on second with only one out left to spare.
