The Morning After of Porphyria's Lover - Original Writing

I woke up to see Porphyria's dead body lie next to me on the floor. I

couldn't clearly remember what happened the night before. The rain

still poured down outside the small cottage in the woods. The fire

burnt with just a flicker. A certain feeling of satisfaction flowed

through my body. I grinned and raised myself up.

I knelt down beside her. I lifted her sweet eyelid to reveal the pure

whiteness of the eyeball. I took my hand away from her eyes and moved

it down her face. Past her perfect nose and down to her tender lips.

Then I brought my face down next to hers and lovingly kissed her one

final, final time. This kiss proved she would be mine forever on into

the afterlife.

Now my brother's wife belonged to me and only me. I had possession of

his wife's soul. I cherished the fact that it was I who had the final

encounter with Porphyria. It was I who had the last kiss. And it was I

who was the last person that the young enchantress declared her love

to.

I then thought about my pathetic brother, sitting alone in his

mansion, while his wife lay at peace with me. I went up to the bar and

poured myself a drink of scotch.

I then walked back over to the beautiful girl and sat down next to

her. I sipped a drop of my drink and then put it down on a table

behind me. I took Porphyria's hand in mine. Her hands were freezing,

they were like ice, but I continued to hold on tight.

Joy rushed through every vein of my body, as I knew that with her hand

in mine I was Porphyria's lover forever. Thunder started to crash

outside, the music of the forest roared out through the trees. The

rain pelted against the window like a drum. I laid down on my back and

put her hand on my heart. It was then I felt it beat the first time
