Every year millions of innocent kids, adults, males and females are forced to do things against their will. Whether its forced labor or prostitution, human trafficking happens everyday, everywhere, and all the time. It happens in the most unlikely places with the most unlikely people. Your neighbor, pastor, teacher, or even a family friend could be apart of the trafficking system. Human trafficking is problem that affects millions of lives and needs to be stopped by educating people about it.
Human trafficking is the 2nd biggest illegal industry behind the drug trade. It comes in so many different forms. Human trafficking by definition is the illegal trade of humans through recruitment or abduction, by means of force or fraud, for the purposes of forced labor, sexual exploitation or debt bondage. Human trafficking is the modern day slavery. There are an estimated 2.5 million people in forced labors caused by human trafficking. 1.4 million of them in just the Asian- Pacific area. South Asia, South East Asia, and Eastern and Southern Europe are considered the epicenters.
There are so many different types of human trafficking. The main two groups are forced labor and sexal exploition. They make up 75% of the victims. Most trafficking victims are young girls that are used to be prostitutes. But besides the usual types there are other forms of trafficking that are overshadowed. People are trafficked for their organs. Just imagine that. Being kidnapped from your home and forced the surgically remove organs like kidneys from your body so they can be sold on the black market. After we have stopped a case of trafficking we need the get the victim immediate help whether is physical or mental. Straight away they need to go to the doctor. Most victims often suffer from dehydration and malnutrition. Once they are healthy again they may need to talk to a therapist or be apart of a small group made up of other victims. These people have gone through horrors we can't even imagine and it's our job to to help them.
Human trafficking can't be stopped in a day or even a year. Its going to take a long time and lots of hard work. But by being aware of it and teaching people about it we can put a stop to this world-wide epidemic

When most of us hear human trafficking, we instantly conclude that a person is being held against their will to perform sexual acts and someone is profiting. Human trafficking is the form of modern day slavery and it is a worldwide problem that affects our local communities. Human trafficking presents itself in two forms: sex trafficking and labor trafficking. Human trafficking touches people of all ages: children, young adults, and the elderly. Human trafficking is defined as, “ the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of threat of use of force or other forms of coercion, or abduction,” (Lightfoot, p.1, 2013).
The organization, Stop the Traffik, defines human trafficking as “to be deceived or taken against your will, bought, sold and transported into slavery. For sexual exploitation, forced begging, sacrificial worship or removal of human organs, as child brides or into sweat shops, circuses, farm labour and domestic servitude” (Stop the Traffik, 2014). It is estimated by the International Labour Organization that up to 20.9 million people are toiling as modern slaves around the globe generating 19 billion dollars per year (Clause, 2013). Although there are many forms of human trafficking, prostitution occurs in almost half of these cases. See Figure 1.
I was completely astonished when I realized how unacknowledged people were about human trafficking. Human Trafficking is known as “the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation.” Here at Austin High School I surveyed six local teachers to test their knowledge on human trafficking. I was shocked by how little these teachers knew about this horrifying topic thats happening around the world. Out the the six teachers that took my survey I was surprised that each teacher missed around two to three questions. Today in our society Human Trafficking is bigger than ever. Men, women, and children are being stolen and traded for sex and labor everyday. As a society we need to stand up and fight against the Traffickers. Human Trafficking needs to be brought to the attention of everyone. we as human beings need to implement a plan to stop trafficking of humans. In addition we need to provide help to people who have been trafficked. Finally it's important to inform every American and even more important to inform the leaders of our country about this awful crime.

Others may use the humans for extraction of organs. “Human trafficking is one of the most hideous crimes in today 21st century ” said the ICE Department. Human trafficking in today society is modern day slavery. Victims pay to be illegally transported into the United States only to find themselves in the hands of traffickers. They are promised a new life where they can start all over in the U.S. Usually the people that are trafficked across continents are from poor social classes and are fed lies so that later they can be trafficked and abused by others. Most of the people trafficked are forced into prostitution, involuntary labor and other forms of servitude to repay the debt that they owe. The FBI states “Human trafficking represents an estimated $32 billion in international trade yearly, illegal international trade estimated at $650 billion in 2010”.
Country to country, person-to-person, human trafficking is becoming a bigger and bigger issue all across the globe, including right here in the United States. Human trafficking is said to be a form of modern-day slavery, subjecting its victims to commercial sex, debt bondage, and forced labor through force, fraud, or coercion. There are often no easily identifiable victims as they come in all ages, genders, and races. There are said to be at least 2.4 million victims of human trafficking across the globe at any given time, leading to profits of $32 billion for the criminal masterminds behind such trafficking operations, making it the second most lucrative criminal industry behind narcotics. Despite the abundance of victims, it is estimated that fewer than 30% of all countries report at least 10 trafficking convictions a year, and 20% of countries do not even have an offense for trafficking. An additional 20% of countries have an offense for trafficking but still report no convictions of the offense. Without an organized coalition to help prevent such atrocities, it is left up to national governments to come up with solutions for their respective nations, and many governments do not possess the know-how or effort needed to combat these crimes.

This form of modern slavery happens when one person or group of people sells another to be used for labor or sex against their will. Stereotypically, most people believe human trafficking only involves young females, however it includes people of all ages, from both genders.
