The Minoan Octopus Flask is an excellent example of the progress and intelligence of the Minoan Civilization and the ancient world as a whole. Around 1500 BC the quality of pottery had improved and the production had become immense. The pottery was influenced by the themes of the frescoes that were being made at the time. The style of the Octopus design was similar to the frescoes in the way that the entire surface was covered in the design. The Octopus design has led historians to believe that the Minoans might have worshiped sea creatures.
