The bible reserves the first eleven chapters of Genesis, which include creation, rebellion in the garden, violence, and judgment all known as the Pentateuch and still to this day the author of the Pentateuch is still unknown. But, throughout the Pentateuch God punishes humanity for all the sin, and shows us that even though we messed up he still has a plan for society which is his redemption plan.
The author of Genesis as well as the other books of the Pentateuch is completely anonymous. Although some parts like the law of Moses recorded the strategic role Moses played in the Pentateuch history, it nowhere specifically points back to the book of Genesis. In addition to making man God made a peaceful world for man to live in. Adam, Eve, and Gods relationship was perfect and they were obedient until sin entered their hearts and spoiled that relationship. What spoiled the relationship was temptation from the serpent to eat the fruit from the forbidden tree. This forbidden tree was called the tree of knowledge, which would open their eyes to reality. By Adam and Eve giving in to temptation they choose a human determined life rather than a God determined life. When God found out they ate of the forbidden tree, he called for Adam asking where he was, though God knew where Adam was. For God was trying to teach Adam and Eve a lesson about being accountable for their actions. In which Adam replied and came out of hiding, upon coming out of hiding God gave his punishments. After giving his punishments God says that he will put hostility or enmity between the man and women and all their decedents, as well as the women’s seed or offspring will bruise the serpents heel. For the bruising of the heel is symbolic and relates to the death of Christ. Not only is the bruised heel significant But, the crushed head also is symbolic for it symbolizes the resurrection of Christ, and the defeat of Satan. This is significant because with the tree of life in the garden Adam and Ever were supposed to live forever if they followed Gods rules. When they took it upon themselves to sin they also broke the chain of forever life and then eventually died. Adam and Eves problem as well as our problem in society is submission, because we have a hard time giving up control of our lives and letting someone else tell us what to do and how to do it.
Beginning to middle of chapter twelve with Abraham God gives him three promises. The three promises include providing a great nation, all families and people shall be blessed and his people reaching the promised land. With God blessing Abrahams people, leading then to the promised land, and making Jerusalem the capitol it set the stage for the coming of Jesus to save humanity.
