The movie that I’m writing about is The Man In 3B. “The Man In 3B” is a 2015 drama and a mystery movie written by Carl Weber and narrated by Mike Ray. The movie starts with an ambulance and firefighter trucks at the scene of a crime. A chaotic and distress group of people gathering around the entrance of the apartment building where the coroners are getting out with a man’s body. The narrator wants to suspend the viewer by showing at the beginning of the movie, the aftermath of a dramatic scene that led a man to lose his life. The main character of the movie is Daryl Graham. Daryl Graham who is an ex gangbanger and a hood legend moved from South Sides Forty Projects to Queens, NY, in an apartment building (Apt# 3B) because he wants to turn …show more content…
What I understand from those shots is that the director wants to show the viewer that there is a crime that’s going to take place in the movie based from those shots that were taking. Based from those shots we might find the suspects. According to Richard Barsam and Dave Monahan, “a shot is a series of frames, that runs for an uninterrupted period of time. Film shots are an essential aspect of a movie where angles, transitions and cuts are used to further express emotion, ideas and …show more content…

Darryl’s house isn’t a house, it’s a home and “A man’s home is his castle”, everything he loves and cherishes is inside that house, from his family to the poolroom, worthless junk to anyone but the Kerrigans. The family is so close knit and together the house is apart of it. The poolroom is an example because everything with sentimental value has it’s own very special spot in the poolroom. Darryl also makes everyone in the house feel very appreciated because he’s always giving compliments to his wife and children, “Why would you go to Thailand when you can have this every night?” and when they g...
containing 56 shots in total. The shots themselves are also long, as well. what is going on is a wordy confrontation, not a violent one, unlike in the car chase scene, where all the shots are very quick. shot brings an air of calm, whereas a quick, snappy shot conveys a sense of action. This makes the action almost comic book in style.
The Bolshevik Revolution was a defining turning point in Russian history. This overall revolution consisted of two individual revolutions in 1917 which resulted in the overthrow of the Tsarist government and the formation of a socialist society led by Vladimir Lenin’s radical Bolsheviks. For a moment with such enormous weight like the Bolshevik Revolution, there will be various interpretations on the true results of that moment and the meaning and value of these results. The film Man with a Movie Camera deals with the results of the Bolshevik Revolution and the early Soviet Society it birthed as it utilizes footage of one day in this early Soviet Union, thus making it worthy of examination. In the film Man With a Movie Camera, Vertov impressively

The movie Doubt is set in a private Catholic School in 1960s. Sister Aloysius is the principal of the school, and Father Flynn is the clergyman in the church. While the movie deals with some moral dilemmas such as doubt versus certainty, rigidity versus openness and so on, the central theme of the story pivots on accusation on Father Flynn of child molestation. The story has a hanging ending where Father Flynn is proven neither guilty nor proven innocent. Based on the contents of the movie and my own analysis, I believe that certainty plays a bigger role in accusations and I believe that Father Flynn had been falsely blamed and I am also against the rigidity of the society.
The movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is based in the 1970s. It depicts the highly male dominated broadcast team and shows the shake up when a woman is hired as a reporter and has aspirations of becoming an anchor the television station. The particular scene shows Ron Burgundy is flustered because Veronica Coringstone is impeding on his masculinity. Burgundy exemplifies hegemonic masculinity by explaining he is a man and a professional, when Coringstone says he his acting like a baby he takes offense and explains he is a man and he his ultimately better than a women because indeed he is a man. Burgundy states, “'I’m a man who discovered the wheel, and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a 1/3 the size of us...It's science (Robertson, McKay, 2004). The clip also depicts Burgundy’s desire for Coringstone to be the typical submissive female he is used to. The articles will identify the gender stereotypes and access if they are true or false based on the research.
For this assignment, the movie “The Help” was chosen to review and analyze because it presents a story of fighting injustice through diverse ways. The three main characters of the movie are Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan, a young white woman, Aibileen Clark, and Minny Jackson, two colored maids. Throughout the story, we follow these three women as they are brought together to record colored maids’ stories about their experiences working for the white families of Jackson. The movie explores the social inequalities such as racism and segregation between African Americans and whites during the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi.
Gender and the portrayal of gender roles in a film is an intriguing topic. It is interesting to uncover the way women have been idealized in our films, which mirrors the sentiments of the society of that period in time. Consequently, the thesis of this essay is a feminist approach that seeks to compare and contrast the gender roles of two films. The selected films are A few Good Men and Some Like it Hot.

An Analysis of How Narrative and Genre Features Create Meaning and Generate Response in the Opening of Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas
Regarding alternative voices given in Three Billboards, with Mildred as a woman of rage and featuring supporting characters of color standing up against the injustices of the town’s law enforcement, McDonagh neatly establishes the narrative as the marginalized, fighting “against the emblems of the white male patriarchy” (Phillips). Indeed, the billboards represent grief that Mildred has weaponized as “a means of taking on the law and assorted men,” including a threatening stranger, a vigilante dentist, and an abusive ex-husband, who “collectively suggest another wall that has closed Mildred in” (Dargis). Dixon is infamously known as the police officer who tortured a black man in custody, and the marginalized population of Ebbing had been simmering
The Interrupters is a 2011 film directed by Steve James that speaks volume on inner city violence. This film accurately portrays urban life and issues that arise from it. With brilliant cinematography, this film describes social problems, social norms, and inner city culture and demonstrates it through a strategically written and shot film. The Interrupters was informative, eye opening, touching, and relevant to today’s time. This is true because there is perhaps an even larger violence epidemic in the United States than when the film came out.

Sex, love, depression, guilt, trust, all are topics presented in this remarkably well written and performed drama.
