Released within the past 3 years, the American film, The Longest Ride encompasses the stories of Luke and Sophia. Luke Collins is a professional bull rider who just recovered from a serious injury from a year before. While Sophia Danko is an art lover, finishing her journey through college, and living in a sorority house. She is more than excited to start her internship in New York City at the end of summertime. They meet at a bull riding competition that Luke partakes in. Sophia never really wanted to go but her best friend from the sorority convinced her into going. While watching the show Sophia was amazed by how well they could stay on and a couple times she jumped due to the danger the riders put themselves in. Once Luke got on his bull and started riding Sophia was extremely nervous for a guy she didn't even know the name of. Luke made the eight seconds and got bucked off right in front of the two girls, sending Lukes hat flying to Sophia's feet. In a daze by what just happened, Luke stood there looking at her and she finally gave him his hat. He decided it would look better on her and proceeded to speak those thoughts to Sophia. Blushing profusely she accepted the hat and Luke walked out of the gate. All of the girls screamed around her by what just happened and her best friend thought it was fate and they were meant to be together. At an afterparty, Sophia was overwhelmed with everyone drinking and all of the noise so she went outside to get some air and then Luke saw her standing there and he found enough confidence to go up and talk to her. It was an awkward encounter and once Sophia's drunk best friend comes over feeling sick Sophia uses that as the perfect opportunity to leave.
