The path and process to recovery is never easy or the same for any individual especially for those suffering from alcohol or substance abuse. Today in America there are millions of people struggling and suffering form substance abuse from childhood up to late adulthood. It is imperative that each community create a recovery and support program that is able to provide the necessary care and support for those looking to kick the habit. The long-term effects of alcohol and substance abuse can have a drastic and lasting impact on these individuals life style if left untreated.
The program created would primarily focus on educating and providing treatment and services to those that are suffering form substance and alcohol abuse, with emphasis also placed on long term life style changes for these individuals. The program will be made available to those seeking help and treatment for their addiction. All this will be done while also trying to treat the individuals underlying issues as to why they have fallen into such a state of addiction. The ultimate goal is to the best quality care; service and treatment need with excellent continuum of care.
The following services will be offered for the program
• Long-term care- treatment form 6-12 months with 24-hour access to counselors.
• Short term care – services and treatment from 4-6 weeks focus on lifestyle changes
• Inpatient care –counseling medication, are also offered.
When it comes to developing these programs there are several barriers that will be faced with such as financial on the individuals part, lack of funding due to the state or community and the struggles with internal and external barriers within the individuals and the community.
