Although there are some psychological tests to determine psychopathy, such as the Levenson Self-Report Psychopathy Scale and the Hare Psychopathy Checklist, there seems to be no well-developed psychological test to exclusively determine whether an individual is sociopathic. Many believe that the terms of “psychopath” and “sociopath” can be used interchangeably. However, this is not the case as they are not one and the same thing. As such, I believe that a psychological test that solely assesses sociopathy may want to be developed in the future. This psychological test of sociopathy can have potential uses for forensic psychologists, for example, in criminal instances – where criminals can be evaluated using this test.
