When people think of the Beatles, Paul or Ringo-Starr may come to mind first. Not the reckless bad boy John Lennon. Not John Lennon the devoted husband nor John Lennon the peace activist. From Lennons rough start at life. To his rocky but quick rise he had all the makings of a rock and roll God. Lennon’s life is the true underdog story, his humbled childhood, controversial love story, quick rise to fame while making and leading in the greatest band of all time, to his tragic end, Lennon truly is a legend.

More like who would the beatles be without John Lennon. The Beatles would not be the great band the world knows today without Lennon. "John Lennon was considered the leader of the Beatles since he started the band. The members of the Beatles are always referred to as: John, Paul, George, and Ringo." (Beatles BIO). This great boy band delivered the world with upbeat tunes that changed the music industry. If the Beatles never existed then there wouldn 't be the same music scene as today. Though the Beatles career only lasted seven years (1963-1970) their names will be marked in history forever (Kehe). The Beatles had a fast and steady rise to fame. They put forth a new type of sound that no other band could imitate. The Beatles achievements stated in this quote ”The Beatles released 13 original albums in Only 7 years. Never before or since has any rock band come close to that quantity and quality of output. Today he has more than 600,000 fans on Facebook. ( Suddath 2). Lennon dabbled in other artistic outlets other than his music, even though that was where his heart was. Lennon also had a passion for world peace. Lennon 's handwritten lyrics for his song " Give peace a Chance" have sold for more than $830,000 (Reid 14). Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono also did campaigns to raise money for peace around the world. John Lennon 's sign stating "Bed Peace" sharing photos from the event sold for almost $160,000 (Reid 14). Lennons accomplishments in his short lived life do not end there, John and Ono created a band called Plastic Ono band in 1970 . The two also created a film together called Double Fantasy ( Cunningham 2). Lennon also own property throughout the world, and has been given large quantities of land for the things he has done for the music industry/ Lennon owns an airport in Liverpool, He also owns the Imagine Peace Tower ( A ray of light in Reykjavik, Iceland) which is said to shoot 13,000 ft into the sky on a clear night. The sixties and seventies were a time of war, peace and revolution, with “hippies” leading anti-war movements, and protests happening across the nation due to the administration of Richard Nixon and the Vietnam War. John Lennon originally a member of The Beatles, became a star in the anti-war subculture, and a hero to many, not only for his musicianship and the Beatle-mania that was spread across the country but for being a voice of the people. The Beatles were at the time, the voices of their generation and eventually became a product of their generation, with their songs highlighting the issues of the time. Even with the disbanding of The Beatles in 1969, Lennon continued to be a force in the culture, with his wife Yoko Ono and himself taking a prominent role in the media and movement against the war.
In conclusion, The Beatles were more than just an icon. They were individuals with aspiring minds that collaborated to create an explosive British band. The Beatles utilized every member’s talent and skill by working together in innovative ways to build group dynamics, team building, and overcoming internal and external competition.
America’s defenses were breached and hysteria gripped the nation. The invasion had begun. However, the sounds of sirens did not fill the streets to warn against nuclear attacks, nor were there warnings to stay indoors. Instead the youth of America rushed into the streets of New York and welcomed the invaders with loud screams and insane fanaticism. The invaders were The Beatles and the members were Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. One of the biggest and influential bands to change the face of music as we know it took the world by storm by introducing new sound, new fashion, and a new way of approaching music. The Beatles have etched a name for themselves and stand in history as one of the greatest bands of all time. However there is a reason why they are regarded so highly and have become the big name that they are today. I never once listened to The Beatles and I didn’t get into music until I was twelve years old, yet at the age of nine I knew who they were. The Beatles are almost a household name in western cultures and that is because of the profound effect they brought upon society at the time. With help from their musical influences, experiences, and being present at the right place at the right time, The Beatles ascended into fame. It is because of factors like their influences, their experiences as a band, their management, and their arrival at the right time that made their takeover that much more successful and influential.
As the guys were just starting to find their sense of direction with their new band they began to blow up. By creating a new style of rock existing with complex chord progression, soft melodies and even, more meaningful lyrics (World Book Online Reference Center) . Songs like, “Let It Be” and “With A Little Help From My Friends” show examples of this. The band’s new direction was so popular that on February 7th, 1964 the Beatles took a plane from London all the way to New York City, according to beatlesbible.com. The need to go to the United States was the great success of their albums. The four went on numerous television shows like The Ed Sullivan show, a late night show like Jimmy Fallon. All great things must come to an end. The Beatles went their separate ways and about 10 years after the split in 1980 John Lennon got shot by Mark David Chapman. Later in 2001 George Harrison died from cancer. The two other members of the band are still alive. Ringo Starr at age 77 and Paul McCartney at age 75. John Lennon was a performer, musician, composer, and a talker (Spangler). Even though some people liked what he did, and others disagreed, John possessed a talent like no other. Even though the Beatles separated, John still found a way for his talents to be carried on through a career. John Lennon was a good father to his kids and was considered to be a thoughtful husband (John Lennon Biography). He was a great musician who still lives through his rock and roll music today. John’s message of peace, love, and happiness will be remembered forever in the minds of many (Johnson).

His father left the family to sail the seas before Lennon’s earliest childhood memory and his mother was taken away by a car accident when he was 18 2. A year after his mother’s death, the Vietnam War took place, which is The United State’s longest military dispute ever. The world famous band, The Beatles, debut on 1961 not long after the start of the war and through this band, Lennon was able to demonstrate his feelings to the people across the world. "Revolution," performed by The Beatles, was created in 1968, when the anti-war demonstration was on the move. After the separation of The Beatles in 1969, Lennon composed the song "Imagine" (1971) 3. This song proves that Lennon is a Peace-Loving-Atheist and a "Voluntarist" 4 that believes in the scheme that people’s ideas can change social reality; however simultaneously admits that there are constantly wars going on in the world. As a result, he could be a mixture of all four, Realist, Liberal, Marxist and Constructivist. On December 8th 1980, approximately five years after the end of the Vietnam War, Lennon was assassinated by Mark Chapman 5. It is not for certain that the word assassination could be used on a singer, song writer who also published books. However there is no doubt about the fact that Lennon touched many people’s hearts around the world and maybe was even praised as an almighty figure.
