An uncivilized society is indicated by animal maltreatment. First, the brutality on animals dis-plays society to be savagely cruel and shows that America supports violence. Second, exploiting animals for any sort of amusement, entertainment and products is unfairly abusive. Third, using psychological torment to gain power or control over living creatures will leave lasting damage. Animals should have rights because as long as they do not have any, physical mistreatment, ex-ploitation, and psychological mistreatment will continue. As far back as Aristotle, philosophers have pondered whether or not people should have a moral responsibility to tend to animals properly. Animals in the wild are taken from their habitats and placed in an environment to be entertaining slaves for the public to enjoy. What the audience does not know is the unthinkable darkness that happens behind closed curtains. Other animals who belong in a circus across the country go through the same pain as Billie while performing unnatural stunts and trying to wow the audience 5 days a week or more. These gentle creatures screech in pain and pour tears while being repeatedly abused by the trainers that were once trusted. They go through a lifetime show of horror and cries for freedom each day. Although, animals do have the same moral status as human beings. If they have been cut, beaten, or lost someone close to them, the can feel the pain. When a dog has a family of only two pups he or she know that they know that they have to do whatever it is in order to protect them and keep them safe.
