IThis paper will discuss the findings of my work related to Project 1 of this course, which was focused on how personality types can impact organizational behavior. By completing the Jung Typology Test, I determined that my four-letter personality type is INTJ (introverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging). By researching Keirsey’s temperaments, I determined that my two-letter personality temperament is NT, which is “The Rationals” temperament. All of the letters in my personality type and temperament all work together and affect my overall personality and how I relate to others. However, it can also be detrimental in that I can waste too much time thinking since I have the desire to consider the rationale behind all actions. Letter J The final letter of my personality type is a J, which indicates that I have a preference for judging over perceiving. I have a moderate preference for judging over perceiving (50%). This indicates that I prefer things to be orderly and established rather than flexible and spontaneous (Information about personality types, 2017). Initially, I was surprised by this assessment. However, after reading more about these two personality types, I agree that I do have more of an inclination for judging. People with a tendency towards judging often like to do things such as making lists of things to do, scheduling events in advance, forming judgements, and bringing closure to issues (Information about personality types, 2017). In addition to completing those assessments, I also read the book Type Talk at Work. This book discussed how the various personality types can work together to lead to success on the job. Through taking the personality assessments and through completing this reading, I have learned both general and specific things about organizational behavior that can help me in the workplace. One general concept that I learned from Type Talk at Work is that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” (Kroeger, 2002). In the past, I always knew that I had personality traits that would affect how I interact with people at the workplace. However, I never realized how the individual traits mesh together in order to form an overall personality type.
