The journey into adulthood is a constant battle filled with many challenges and sacrifices. As such, one must exchange childish emotions and behaviours to be capable of maturing into a harden individual that is ready for adulthood. One may trade joyous laughing for an angst-filled mask of emotionlessness. Whimsical humor must be traded for grim sarcasm and hushed anger. Creativity and imagination must be sacrificed to make room for apathy and reality. And love must be diminish and hidden away to compensate for the harsh cruelness of maturity. Or at least that's what I can conclude about the challenges and sacrifices that adulthood has in store for me and my not so far future.
However, I have to the realization that adulthood, as terrifying and unpredictable as it may seem to me, is not as terrible as previously mentioned. My parents and siblings have gone through the struggles of maturity and adulthood and they were capable of growing up and being responsible. They were qualified to become adults because they followed the lessons that have been passed through our family. These lessons being: ‘responsibility is key to the journey of adulthood’, ‘one must learn that not everything is about them’, and ‘education and knowledge are important in …show more content…

“Adulthood is just a miniscule part of life and when comparing it to the other challenges that life throws your way, you’ll be grateful that you went through that seemingly difficult passage (Cardona).” I realise that adulthood is not as terrifying as I once thought it was. I can see now that I am, somehow, almost done with my rite passage into adulthood. I have paid attention to the responsible, compassion, and knowledge that are necessary to adulthood.
