The Issue with Smoking Sometimes people feel that things are better left unsaid. What would you do if you grew up and found out you had cancer and you knew there had been a way to prevent it? Smoking is like taking breathes of death and darkening your lungs. Passive smokers seem to be on an increase. It baffles us to know that people smoke for various unrealistic reasons such as pleasure, for a boost mentally or physically , a habit , an addiction to satisfy nicotine cravings, peer pressure to try and feel like a part of the crowd and emotional feelings such as stress or anger.Commercials show that smoking is a way to relax and to be cool by smoking cigarettes; they never show the negative side of it. For example, addiction is one of the bad side effects of smoking and it is caused by nicotine. Once one inhales the cigarette he or she will want the need for another one. Many people change there personalities because of the addiction to smoking. Some may adopt more grouchy and violent behaviour and need a cigarette to relax, but instead it is doing more damage. Researchers have found ways to control addictions and some have succeeded while many have failed. People at a younger age start to get addicted by the nicotine. There are many people today who choose the path of smoking and lead to several regretted consequences. Sometimes it is not necessarily peer pressure that is the reason for young people to start smoking. It is normally there decision but they choose to be influenced. Many people die of second-hand smoke due to constantly inhaling smoke increasing there risk of cancer. When kids were asked why they started smoking, they gave two contradictory reasons: They wanted to be a part of the crowd. Children don't want to be left out, they want to be wanted.
