This article explains how in Texas, a judge has gone around Obama’s ruling that schools must allow transgender students to use the bathroom and locker room or their choice. Judge Reed O’Connor’s ruling exceeded ruling went above his authority, however he used Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 to get his ruling passed. This amendment states that a restroom or any other facility made for a certain gender is for that gender and that gender only. The judge went on to explain that this law is to protect people’s privacy while members of the opposite sex are around. He then went to explain how other states do not have to conform to the laws Obama is trying to implement based on Title IX. Transgender rights are taking multiple steps back to this ruling and also when a judge in Detroit let a funeral home owner get away with firing a transgender employee because transgender people are not protected under the anti-discrimination laws. The article then went back to the topic at hand, the ruling against Obama’s transgender bathroom laws in schools. The Obama Administration has threatened to cut back or withhold federal education funds to schools that refuse to let students use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity or use the proper pronouns. However, Texas General Attorney Ken Paxton has spoken out that this threat is illegal federal overreach. He agrees with the Texas judge 's ruling because he feels that he is correcting this. The article then continues to go on and interview a Dallas attorney for a gay rights group. The article concluded with Paul Castillo, the attorney,explaining how high the risk is for transgender students to be harassed already and this decision only increases that.

...be no right or wrong opinion in any topic, but there is always the “respectful” and “disrespectful” opinion. In this case, the judge has shown the disrespectful opinion on a very controversial topic. The cause that he is going against has no impact whatsoever on his life. Everybody deserves to have the same rights and liberties in this country. These rights have been taken away from certain groups because do not “understand” them; if one cannot understand something, why would they go along with it? The answer should be obvious; they should go along with it because it does not affect them. They should go along with it because everybody deserves equality. This article goes to show that people have not taken very many steps in the right direction of this concept. The article proves that people in America still have very much to work on in regards to respect and equality.
