Immigration There has been a lot of fuss over the issue of illegal immigration. It truly is one of America’s biggest problems, in my opinion. This has been an issue in our country for years and it is about time we resolve the issue. The two of our 2016 candidates had very different views on the situation and both felt very strongly about it. Hillary Clinton felt that it was unnecessary to take drastic measures when it came to immigration; When it came to border security she claimed that she would “ protect U.S. borders and national security but did not give any specific plans”. His first plan for border security was to build a wall. In most of his speeches all you would have to hear is “build a wall” and you knew what he was speaking of. He wanted to build this wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, would this be cheap? No, and he expected Mexico to pay five billion to 10 billion to build this wall. When it came to his plans for deportations, it was to deport all of the undocumented immigrants, (which was about eleven million immigrants). Not only did he want to deport all eleven million, he wanted to penalize those who stayed longer than their visa departure date. He wants to have more immigration and custom enforcement officers, triple to be exact. He also wants to require that immigration and customs enforcement to go with local police officers to gang raids. His plans for the detentions were “no more catch and release” which means he wants immigrants who are caught illegally crossing the border to be detained and deported. He also had plans for the visa’s and work permits, his plans included to raise wages paid to H-1B (“a non-immigrant visa that allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations”)- he wanted to do this so employers are motivated to offer jobs to unemployed Americans, the visa’s including the H-1B requires that employers look to hire American’s first, also to certify that immigrants who come to the U.S. are able to afford their own

Although DACA has changed since President Obama’s initial announcement, the policy still has stringent requirements. While Democrats have cheered DACA as a step towards immigration reform, Republicans have denounced DACA as an example of executive overreach. One of the most important aspects of a presidential nominee is the candidate political ideology, and how that candidate transforms their ideology into vision with specific agenda that they can convince voters of. When we look at Donald Trump’s official campaign site we see seven position or stances on an issues that trump has chosen to center his campaign around was one of the main issues Trump addressed in every stump speech he gave during the primary. Undocumented immigrants are mostly in every country, the U.S maintains a high status of illegal or undocumented workers. Every country seems to think there is a problem and are trying to cut the number of undocumented immigrants or illegal workers. We seem to think, why is this happening? Are undocumented workers ruining the economy or supporting it, are they stealing jobs from Americans or just taking unappealing jobs? Undocumented workers are moving to the United States, seeking a better life and opportunities for themselves and their families. Mr. Trump stated he had planned on repealing and replacing President Obama’s healthcare program known as Obamacare. A proper plan regarding what he would replace it with was not released, but he stood firm on repealing Obamacare. Secretary Clinton completely disagreed with Mr. Trump on what the country needed in regards to healthcare. Where Mr. Trump felt it would benefit the American people to completely get rid of Obamacare, Secretary Clinton made it clear that not only would she keep Obamacare if elected, she would expand and reform it. Many times, these topics were brought up in at least one of the three debates, as they were extremely important to the citizens of the country. These three topics of policy exemplified the divide between the candidates. For many, it was difficult to stand in the middle, as no candidate seemed to offer such perspectives. For that reason, I argue this created extreme partisan between the citizens and may have even played a part in Secretary Clinton’s loss. Having such partisan policy standpoints led many to settle for one side or another. Everyday over 11 million people battle with the fact that they can’t be legal in America. Hiding in the shadows, petrified of what might happen to them if they are caught trying to help their kids and families be successful in a safe home. Millions of undocumented immigrants are denied a “path to citizenship” due to immigration laws. These laws need to be altered and should allow these hurting families a chance to be legal. If these immigrants get deported, the United States is losing vital resources, they will fear losing their families, and since they are trying to get right by law, why not give them a chance? Furthermore undocumented immigrants are worthy to fight for, and this is why.

I do not agree with Hillary Clinton’s views on sanctuary cities because I believe that sanctuary cities are a pathway for illegal immigrants to come to America. Sanctuary cities should be shut down. Although, I agree with Hillary Clinton's views on immigration enforcement and how it must be more humane and effective by focusing on immigrants who pose a threat to our country. She also called for an increase of law enforcement along the Mexican and Canadian border. I believe that an increase in security and enforcement is a huge step forward to stopping illegal immigrants. Immigration poses an ongoing debate in which people are becoming increasingly unsure as to whether immigrants are benefiting their society. This paper will examine three of the main benefits of immigration: the increase in diversity it provides, the rise in skills and labor and the benefits to the economy. Immigration leads to cross-cultural integration, therefore increasing ethnic variety. This increase in diversity is beneficial as it leads to improvements in society, as well as educational development. Increased immigration also means there are more skills and experts available to the hosting countries, as well as extra workers to take up jobs that need filling. Immigration also leads to improvements in the economy as taxes are paid and employment and wages increase.
