For over 75 years, there has been tension between the Palestinian and Arab people. The hatred between the Palestinians and Arabs go back to the unwillingness of Arabs to reach a fair agreement with Jewish people over Palestinian land. Since 2000, there was as series of violent acts between the Arabs and Palestinians that resulted in over 3,000 lives being shed (Barak 719). Soon beginning after all the lives that have been shed, there was a peace process that soon begun in 1993. Between 1993 and 2000 was the period of time where serious peace talks between the Arabs and Palestinians truly begun. The Oslo Process was done to bring the two sides together to end the conflict. During that time, the Oslo process created expectations for the Israel-Palestinian conflict, with the idea of peacemaking and the specific role of the other surrounding nations (Barak 720). The Arab-Israeli conflict is a result of the rising tensions for over 75 years between Palestinians and Israelis; and can be solved with discussion between Arab and Israelis, peace agreements throughout the state of Israel, and having the proper parties involved for the ideal peace process to happen.
When the year 2000 approached, the peace negotiating process collapsed between the Arab and Palestinians. Before the year 2000, it had seemed as if the conflict had a strong possibility to be solved. There were times on both sides of the conflict that opportunities were missed. On one side of the conflict, there were fair proposals made, but was later rejected because the other side did not want to enter into serious negotiations (Slater 80). For there to be peace and stability throughout the region, Jordanians and Palestinians must have a new mindset and work towards a peace process while working together on a new foundations. Much of the conflict was due to different parties being stubborn and unwilling to compromise on peace and stability throughout the region. For the Arab-Israeli conflict to be solved there has to be numerous steps taken beginning with Israel. Israel first has to make peace with its enemies because most of them are throughout the Middle East. The triangle conflict needs to turn into the triangle of cooperation and will be peaceful if the nations guide them in the right direction towards peace. President Obama pushed the Arabs to do more in the peace process, and if they put effort into peace process negotiations then the conflict will be solved.
