The Irish Republican Army Ideology
The Irish Republican Army ideology is still living in Northern
Ireland, nearly a century after the organization’s establishment.
Although the IRA has since disbanded, the spirit is kept alive by a
number of splinter factions, including the Provisional, Continuity,
and Real IRAs. Not many terrorist organizations can maintain a
campaign this extensive in time. The long history of the IRA campaign
of terror leads to many political, social, religious, educational and
economic effects. It also contributes to international problems about
which we may only be able to speculate.
The most violent splinter group from the Provisional IRA is named the
Real Irish Republican Army (rIRA). The primary nation of origin and
activity is Northern Ireland where they have been operating from late
1997 to the present. Attacks have also occurred in the United Kingdom
and Irish Republic. The rIRA is composed of dissident IRA members who
opposed the Irish peace process and political leadership of Sinn
Fein. They are Nationalist/Separatist terrorists with links to the 32
County Sovereignty Committee, a Republican political group, and the
Continuity Irish Republican Army, another splinter group from the IRA
(Melaugh). According to the U.S. Department of State, they want to
end British rule in Northern Ireland and politically merge Northern
Ireland into the Republic of Ireland.
The Real IRA was founded by Michael “Mickey” McKevitt, who is now in
prison serving 30 years. Since his incarceration, McKevitt has called
for the rIRA’s disbandment, although this has not yet occurred
(MIPT). It is hard to confirm how ...

Irish Republican Army – The IRA held the belief that all of Ireland should be its own independent republic from England. After WWI ended, Irish local started the Irish War for Independence in 1919, where the English eventually settled and made a treaty for the Irish. In 1922 the IRA rejected the Anglo-Saxon Treaty, and fought again for Irish independence, where they were eventually defeated. In the film “The Wind That

The American people turned to Republicanism because they believed in a political system run by the people, not by a supreme authority. It became clearer to them over the course of the American Revolution, and even before, that they had wanted equality and the liberty to run their own governemt. King George III parliament had imposed policies to weaken colonial power and assert authority, raised their taxes, and required them to house the British soldiers that enforced such policies.
In May of 1918 the remainder of the prisoners were released. The shadow government and the Irish Republican Army were established. Eamon DeVelera was the president of the shadow government, and Michael Collins and Harry Boland, his right hand men, are associated with the IRA’s establishment. The IRA performed many rebellious acts towards the British and any Irish spies that they hired. The British felt that something needed to be done but did not have the troops due to the First World War. To work around this they sent in a hand-picked elite group that were called the Black and Tans. An Irish spy that was giving information to the IRA in return for his life informed them of the Black and Tans addresses. They then went and killed many of them. This led to the British calling a truce. (Coogan,”Troubles”,pgs. 35-42)
The Effectiveness and Success of Parnell as an Irish Nationalist Leader Parnell was a very influential leader and had campaigned for many different causes but most noticeably he campaigned for land reform within Ireland, this was one of his most noticeable achievements as an Irish Nationalist Leader. Parnell was helped to power by the Land League. This was where the end of the Great Famine within Ireland meant that farmer's incomes fell by a large extent and they demanded the reduction of rents due to this. They demanded this because many farmers could not pay the rents so this meant that landlords evicted them.
The Irish National Liberation Army was founded on the 8th December 1974 by the former member of the Irish Republican Army(IRA) Seamus Costello who left or was forced to leave the group as he strongly disagreed with the ceasefire called by the Irish Republican Army in 1972. The Irish National Liberation Army came under attack from the Irish Republican Army who wanted to destroy them because the Irish National Liberation Army goal was to remove Northern...
The Irish Republican Army was a well-known terrorist organization originating in Dublin, Ireland. The IRA (Irish republican Army) used irregular military tactics including ambushes, sabotage, raids, and petty warfare against the United Kingdom. The IRA raged Guerilla warfare against the British, creating the Irish War of Independence. Even though the Irish Republic Army is no longer active, in their time they wreaked havoc any many different people. In this essay, the description of the group, historical and past events of the group and recent activities will be discussed.
In the early 1900s, Irish nationalists were fed up with the British rule that had dominated Ireland since its existence. The Irish in this situation closely resemble the American Colonists prior to the American Revolution. The Irish felt as if the British did not represent them well and they wanted to run their own country and govern themselves. There were many small rebellions and confrontations between some Irish citizens and the British army all throughout Ireland’s history with the purpose of lowering the morale of British troops that occupied Ireland, or in rebellion to specific actions by the British. However, there never was any organized uprising with a goal of completely eliminating the British like the Easter Uprising in 1916.
They give speculative answers as to possible reasons why, including provocation and gaining support, but they do not go further into the history of the IRA and The Troubles. Using Crenshaw’s model on the Causes of Terrorism (1981), I will look at the varying factors that led to the formation of the PIRA and subsequently the Belfast
The Divided People of Ireland Ireland is a country with two very different peoples living there,
“Combo: But I've got one question to ask you. Do you consider yourself English, or Jamaican? [There's a long uneasy silence, as Milky looks around nervously to the rest of his friends... ] Milky: [eventually] English. Combo: Lovely, lovely, love you for that, that's fucking great. A proud man, learn from him; that's a proud man. That's what we need, man. That's what this nation has been built on, proud men. Proud fucking warriors! Two thousand years this little tiny fucking island has been raped and pillaged, by people who have come here and wanted a piece of it - two fucking world wars! Men have laid down their lives for this. For this... and for what? So people can stick their fucking flag in the ground and say, "Yeah! This is England. And this is England, and this is England." (reference).
The Success of Sir Robert Peel’s Irish Policy Sir Robert Peel’s strong-nerved and far-sighted approach to Ireland’s social discontent demonstrated all the best attributes of the innovative politician that he was. However, the minimal effect felt by Irish people highlights the eventually fatal inefficiency of his leadership. Peel’s policies were largely based on the principle of “coercion and conciliation”: at first he took an authoritarian stance, and only later looked to be persuasively appeasing. In doing so, Peel hoped to promote Unionism, and hence to instil in the Irish a sense of loyalty towards Britain. He aimed to stop Ireland’s radical threat by winning over the Irish Catholics, and to create a convincingly secure long-term relationship between the two governments.
From the time of their creation in 1919, the Irish Republican Army (IRA) has always been a fighting force behind the independence from Britain for all of Ireland. The IRA was an organization that was meant to help Ireland in their fight for independence and be the military support going into the future. Nevertheless, did the creation of the IRA really help Ireland in the end, or did it cause more problems than the Irish already had? Although the IRA was created to help aid Ireland in the fight for independence, their brutal tactics and their inability to compromise ultimately led to destruction and problems rather than peace for Ireland.
Throughout history, groups have been using violence all over the world to try and coerce governments to give into their demands. Today I am going to talk to you a bit about the terrorist group, the Irish Rebublican Army (IRA) and the events known as Bloody Sunday.
The 'Real' IRA are a faction in Northern Ireland that have broken away from the IRA because they no longer believe in the movement. Dissent is often a popular part of joining a factious movement.
