When using, there are two main disadvantages if businesses are considering using this connection. For one, the more people on the Internet the more trouble they will have trying to connect. The article suggests that the business should purchase more modems if your business is planning to use the Internet a lot. The second disadvantage is that the best speed a computer can possibly get from the direct-dial up connection is 56Kbps. This is fine if they are only going to be using the e-mail feature of the Internet but 56Kbps is quite slow if the business is planning to surf the Web a lot.
The Internet In recent years, the Internet had become one of the most useful tools used by everyone on a regular basis. The Internet was the connection between millions of computers that formed a larger network in the world. It provided beneficial tools like surfing (searching) the web for answers or maybe just general information like news updates or sports results. With those beneficial tools also came along bad online people and ideas to harm the users of the Internet. The government should have implemented rules or regulations to the Internet for a safer browsing experience.
The amount of information available on the Internet has also risen greatly, from less than 20,000 Web sites in 1995 to over 10 million in 2000, containing over two billion Web pages, with as many as two million pages added daily. The focus for this essay is the impact of the Internet on the society, and how it affects people both pro and anti socially. Social interaction is one main point raised by many when evaluating the Internet. With people increasingly spending more time on machines it is said they spend less time actively participating, socially with others. The Internet can allow people to be connected to the world 24 hours a day, possibly isolating people from the world by reducing interpersonal communication.
The internet affects users in many ways, we have become dependent on the internet, and it has become an important asset to our daily lives. Nicholas Carr Explains how internet has affected him, he states "They supply the stuff of thought, but they also shape the process of thought. And what the net seems to be doing is chipping away our capacity for concentration and contemplation"(610 Carr). We use the internet in everyday life, it has been a quick and effective way to problem solve, we depend on the internet so we don’t have to sit and thoroughly think through our thoughts and problems. We start to lack concentration on readings because of the easy access to summarizations on the internet like "Spark notes", we have become lazier each day because of the conveniences of the internet.
To our knowledge, internet has become a basic need of our generation today because it seems that people can survive without food but can’t survive without internet. Since the internet gives us access to endless information, not many people know the limits of it or when they have reached their limit. Research by Harlina et al. (2015) supports the fact that students use the internet to obtain course-related information, communications and finishing assignments. They also want us to be aware that there are negative effects of internet use on the academic life of a student if they are unable to control their internet use for these social interaction or entertainment (Harlina et al., 2015).
One of the best sources of information would have to be the Internet. This is because the Internet connects everyone together and gives us an environment to share, collaborate and enhance information so that it can be used properly for generations to come. Although it being a universally used information system, the Internet has become a problem for people, due to people relying on Internet based applications that make the world easier, i.e. online shopping, banking, and socializing. To have all that information at your disposal would make certain people rely on the Internet for a lot of their every day purposes.
Have I missed the luxury of using the Internet all these times? Since then, I use Internet to do my assignments or study. I found out that using an Internet saves me time to get information that I needed. Moreover, it gives me the information I was looking for with minimal failure. Now, I rely heavily on Internet to get resources and information.
Searching on the internet can also affect the process of thoughts and the intellectual development of the human mind. Carr was worrying about his mind function because of the Internet when he says, “My mind isn’t going—so far as I can tell—but it’s changing. I’m not thinking the way I used to think” (Carr 332). The Internet is not as reliable as books when you search for an answer because the Internet can give you the wrong answer. You never know who wrote it, or what its source might be.
The Influence of Computer technology “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” by Nicholas Carr and “How Computers Change the Way We Think” by Sherry Turkle are two articles that explore how technology influences our daily lives. “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” discusses the effects of the internet in our society, how it is robbing us of our deep thoughts, memories and our ability to read books. Carr also talks about how the internet has become our primary source of getting information. The writer also discusses about how he’s having difficulty focusing on reading. “How Computers Change the Way We Think” is talking about how people don’t use their brains full potential capacity to solve problems.
The vertical design made the website “90s” showing how programmers at the time did not know how to make it not that cluttered and horizontal spacing saving time and optimizing the purpose of the website. The site at the time seemed “New” because of the majority of information it provides to the average consumer; although at the same time it would seem “dated” compared to the kind of designs we look at today. By seeing the cluttered website shows that websites are just throwing information onto the internet trying to get it out to the public while eventually moving into a more cleaner, efficient, and optimized website later on.
