The ill and sick don't stay bound to one area, they travel to different counties by airline or cruise line transmitting their illnesses to other passengers. When sick people are on board they can spread their diseases with just a minor yet sometimes deadly cough or sneeze they will be spreading their sickness.
New Diseases can spread internationally by travel, if restrictions were shown by cruise lines and airlines it could prevent the innocent from dying from a disease outbreak. Most airlines like British Airlines have doctors who are certified to work and treat patients for access on board the plane. There are many experts on this subject, Doctor Saldmann who wrote the book “Wash Your Hands!” says in his traveling content topics that could help travelers in repelling diseases and performing good hygiene “the spread of a disease come through in th airplanes cabin thus spreading it to other passengers, to their destination on words” (40).
Articles I have research talk about my previous arguments, for an example on article named “Too Sick to Travel: Who Decides?”. By Linda Bubank, New diseases can spread by international travel to other countries, which they aren't prepared for. If airlines and cruises lines did not allow ill people to travel the world would probably be safer. Keeping the innocent from dying.
If a new disease stays bound to a country it is there responsibility to destroy it, this method is more efficient. Have the bound country more prepared for a cure. This could stop the deaths of many and the virus getting out of hand. Most airlines have doctors which certify passengers for clearance on board.

It's probably not the nicest thing to do to fly while sick, said Saldmann , noting that people seem more educated these days about how disease spreads. People don't understand that these diseases are contagious."
I was on a flight this week and had to sit beside a guy who coughed up a storm the entire flight and it wasn't a 1 hour flight either. Lucky me, laterI am sick as a dog with a sore throat, minor fever and plugged sinus's and ears. Most, if not all of us have traveled when ill at some point. It is also a major inconvenience to the sick passenger as well as the airline to reschedule them.
..., exposure to any kind of infection such as colds and influenza should be avoided.
Many states and colonies across the globe issued detailed sets of directives to their residents on what exactly they should do if they come into contact with the illness. One such example is the directive issued by T.W.H. Holmes, the Secretary of the Victoria Board of Public Health in Australia. The directive details the symptoms, complications, treatment, and prevention of the disease. Something very common during the outbreak of any pandemic is the use of quarantines to separate the sick and the healthy. In fact, that is the first order for prevention of disease in T.W.H. Holme...
Influenza is very contagious and spreads rapidly from person to person. Influenza causes worldwide yearly epidemics. According to World Health organization Influenza affects 5-15% world’s population and resulting in 500,000 deaths yearly. Ottenberg stated that, in United States, an average of 200,000 were hospitalized and 36,000 died each year from influenza complications. Influenza is the sixth leading cause of death among US adults and is related to 1 in 20 death in persons older than 65 years. Disease control and prevention estimates indicate that infections like H1N1 which is one of the types of influenza, have resulted in an estimated 42 to 86 million cases and 8520 to 17620 deaths. As I mentioned earlier that infections like influenza are very contagious, they can spread easily from hcw to Patient and back to hcw. The most efficient and effective method of preventing influenza infection is vaccination(The best way to prevent influenza is with annual vaccination).(Sullivan,2010) (Gregory,Tosh &Jacobson, 2005). Motivated by a desire to actively avoid illness Influenza may increase the risk for death in people with existing heart, lung, or circulation disorders. In fact, the higher than average number of winter deaths in people with heart disease may be due only to the occurrence of influenza during those months.Vaccination provides immunity to fight against infection. To increase resistance to harm by modifying the environment to minimize preventable illness (NEED TO CHANGE WORDING)
Time is a very important thing to all of us. Many people all ready of busy schedules, whether with work or school. When someone gets sick that reduces the amount of time that you have to do other things. Also it can reduce the amount of time that others have too. When you are not available to do a job because you are sick, someone has to take up for you which will cause them to have less time for the things they need to do. So take a step and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
This allowed the cells to multiply to within the billions of trillions in a short period of time. They had been allowed to into the drainage system infecting the water supply of the population. Every household within the United States had tainted water, making it easier to spread the noocytes from person-to-person. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had been informed of a “plague” as the cells have already spread across the continent. This led to the cancellation of “all intra- and international” flights with travellers from the United States quarantined to prevent potential contamination (121). A procedure of this magnitude conjures up images of men in hazardous suits having citizens strip down and sprayed with sterilizing chemicals. The sudden isolation of the country by the CDC has caused panic and chaos with communication between major cities failing. Any physical contact other countries had with North America has been cut off. The plague had the North American continent isolated with countries ceasing to have physical contact created this mood of an apocalyptic setting throughout the story. The story then examines the apocalyptic plague through Michael
In “Contagion and in “The Hot Zone” when confronted with an outbreak in the United States, technology both helped spread the virus and aid in its containment by connecting the world. Some brief ways it helped spread was the ease of going anywhere in the world by airplane within twenty four hours. A way that it helped contain the outbreak was the high level technology that we have and how we can stop the spread of a virus and make a vaccine against it.
The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 marked the beginning of the disappearance of old borders and a new global era of unparalleled human movement and interaction. Although the new global arena has created economic opportunities and growth, the benefits have not been equally distributed, and the risks—especially the health risks—of this increasingly interconnected and fast-paced world continue to grow. As people, products, food, and capital travel the world in unprecedented numbers and at historic speeds, so, too, do the myriad of disease-causing
The Geography of disease is a fascinating topic to learn about simply because the possibilities of researching various diseases world wide and locally are endless. Each disease is unique in its own way and they greatly impact citizens both positivey and negatively. As a group, we researched upon multiple diseases including: Cholera, Rubella, Asthma, Lyme Disease, Avian Flu (also referred to as Bird's Flu), Hantavirus and three forms of Hepatitis (A,B,C).
After I talked to Steve, I decided to talk to a news reporter, named Joe. He informed me that everyone had to stay inside to stay safe and, in some areas, nobody was allowed to spit. The majority of the world shut down due to the deadliness and contagiousness of the disease. The flu arose around spring in 1918, but worsened that summer. Around a year later, the pandemic finally ended, but the tragedy never faded away from people’s minds. It could’ve ended sooner, but they didn’t have the technological advances, cures,
When you think of the disease Ebola most people become unnerved because how contagious this disease is. The Ebola outbreak is in many countries but it originated from West Africa were animals such as monkeys carried the deadly virus that humans contracted and the virus is killing humans daily. The infection rate is raising daily along over three thousand deaths from the disease (Central Disease Control). The main argument I am making is should Americans who travel outside of the United States be allowed back into the states if they travel to a country with a high rate of Ebola cases because of the chance of that person contracting the disease and then bringing it back to the states. The only exception is if an American citizen needs to come back into the United States for a serious reason I strongly believe that any person who has possibly became in contact with the disease should have to stay in the country they traveled to for twenty one days isolated in a hospital for observation due to the chance of contracting the disease and bringing it back to the states.
Influenza is one the most common infectious disease and easy to transmitted around the world. In every community, there are people who attend to get the flu and/or have a grave consequence such as pneumonia and infections. Danger would not be in our thinking because we might be healthy but we must be realistic and think of the possibility of transmitting or been getting from someone else and even worst have a fatal virus. “With influenza it’s tough because you need about 80 percent or more of the population getting the vaccine for herd immunity to really work and we’re just not there yet.” (Keyes-Bevan 1)
An Ebola outbreak in the United States is rare, and individuals cannot contract the disease through casual contact with an infected person. Therefore, the likelihood of contracting Ebola is extremely low unless a person has direct unprotected contact with body fluids of a person who is sick with Ebola (). Vulnerable populations impacted by the EVD are anyone who has traveled to an Ebola-affected country, or had contact with someone who unknowingly or knowingly has Ebola. However, Georgia is vulnerable to travel-related EVD cases, because it houses the CDC’s headquarters in Atlanta and because it is home of one of the largest international airports that receives travelers from Ebola-affect West Africa ().
Ebola, a virus that is spreading very quickly and has now found its way into the United States. The U.S. government has taken a few precautions in order to not let the virus spread any further. Ebola has caused some panic in people and demand for the people who are infected to be placed under quarantine. I believe that these individuals should be placed under quarantine because they should not be set free to interact with others. The individuals also should not be treated poorly due to the fact that they risked their life in order to provide health care attention to the man who arrived to Dallas with Ebola.
The most obvious problem a sick employee risks is spreading their illness. Suppose a sick employee shows up to work and spreads their illness to many of their coworkers. This now means that multiple people in the business are in the dilemma of whether to miss work and get behind or show up and spread their sickness. Not only will this affect the coworkers, but it will also put customers and the rest of the public at risk. Statistics have shown that when people are sick, they aren’t near as focussed as their usual self. This leads to the outcome of an unproductive day from a drained employee. A third factor that plays a role on those who come to work sick is a longer recovery time. If you do not allow your body time to heal from an illness, it will take much longer, thus implying there will be many unproductive days ahead for the ill
As for the developed countries, they can collect samples from the patients so that the drug companies can produce new vaccines for new diseases. When trying to cure diseases, developed countries and poor countries would have mutual benefits by cooperating.... ... middle of paper ... ...
