Although I find joy in being an electrician, my career field is too unstable, and I need a better state of financial security. Changing professions is a big risk, but at this point I feel I have more to gain rather than lose, so I’ve decided to change my career to something that I enjoy even more that will always be needed as our society’s communication and technology grows more and more advanced. Therefore, I have chosen to pursue a career in Information Technology, specializing in Network Administration, because I have been good with and loved all forms of technology ever since I was in 4th grade. We had a computer class at the end of each day and I was the only one in class that understood how to run the floppy disks on a Macintosh. It was almost second nature to me right from the beginning, and I have had a craving for more knowledge of technology ever since.
I welcome any knowledge that helps me grow in the subject I’m interested in and as an individual, so I want to learn everything I can in all of my classes. I will start English 106 and Introduction to Computer Operating Systems next week. I’m excited but also a little nervous about my abilities to manage my schedule in a way that will guarante...

...ss, I would like to share some advice. My past experiences have taught me the importance of choosing a career that focuses on things I enjoy, continuing my education, and to never settle for less than the goals I set for myself. Hence, my advice to everyone who is about to begin this class or those who are unsure about what career path they should follow is that you should seek a career that concentrates on what you love to do and not what is popular at the time. You will have more success doing what you love rather than forcing yourself to do something you have no interests in. Furthermore, never stop learning; your passion and desire to learn more about what you love can be a foundational motivation that will continue to drive you to succeed. You will have to work very hard, but the outcome will be your contentment and your happiness in the field you choose.

The first piece of technology that was introduced to me was the amazing, ground-breaking GameBoy created by Nintendo. My parents believed that my obsession with video games in my juvenile years would be the cause of my downfall when I would become an adult with no job, no money, and still lived with my parents. I admit that I did have an addiction in the beginning, but over the years it moderated as I became more attracted to what was actually done to develop the devices and programs that once ensnared me. Enrolling into a vocational high school, I selected Programming & Web Development as my choice of trade in order for me to learn more about this extraordinary field of science. Soon I began compiling my own applications, but with a method unorthodox compared to my classmates; I believed that the vivid aesthetics and simple navigation displayed on applications were just as crucial as the tediously compiled, intricate code virtually hidden underneath. With every annual keynote that was broadcasted from numerous Silicon Valley companies, their latest innovations constantly entertained my curiosity. Advancing as an upperclassmen, I entered into challenging courses and incessantly researched innumerable universities as I began to devise a plan of recruitment for the companies of the Bay Area. Enrolling into a university that is passionate about the
I interviewed Ms. Margaret Dolgenos, The CEO and CFO of an internet company, Cruzio, in Santa Cruz, California. Ms. Dolgenos has degrees in Administrative Sciences from Yale University, which she considered to be insufficient in her career, and Computer Science and Engineering from University of California, Santa Cruz. With a rather unconventional start to her career in several different fields, including teaching English in Taiwan for four years, before beginning to work at an answering service in the mid 1980’s where she would meet her future husband and business partner, Chris Neklason. Both were very interested in computers and visited many early examples of internet connections. Both felt that with a little work the new technology could
Time sure does fly; in the blink of an eye, yet another 7.5-week class has come and gone. Just like life, it is scary to think that in just a few short years I will be graduating college and be in search of a future career. The magnitudes of readings, assignments, PowerPoint lectures, and videos have all contributed to the valuable knowledge I have gained since taking this course. Nothing that was presented or required was seen as invaluable towards my progression of career development. This career development course has allowed me to do some self-exploration, career research, and help me understand what influencing factors were related to the job market. Ultimately, this class helped me gauge and find a suitable career path, which will forever shape my future.
Choosing a career path that is right for you can be the most crucial decisions you make in your life. Not only is making the right choice important for the present, but it is especially important for your future. When choosing a career it is valuable to consider things such as growth potential, monetary benefits, strengths, weaknesses, and your happiness. By doing that it will help clarify the benefits and tradeoffs for each opportunity you are given. That being said, making such a weighted decision that will impact the rest of your life can be nerve-racking, extremely scary, stressful, and outright frustrating. However, making this decision is not impossible and can become less complicated if you are given the right tools. Gathering information
Intro Deciding what you want to study during your college career can be a difficult and tedious task. This is due to fact that many young adults coming out of high school are unsure of what they want to do or what path to take career wise. It is also tedious because this requires that these individuals have to constantly try and explore new avenues so that they can find their passion in life. The path I chose to take when coming out of high school was entering the business school at Howard University.
Today, as we graduate, with degree nearly in hand, I challenge each of you to make a difference in whatever you do. Remember that life didn't end when we re-entered school. Life continued throughout our program. Even when stretched to the limit, life only got more challenging. And now, graduating, life only changes pace. Our degree completion is not really an ending as much as a new beginning as we re-enter our lives of work and home. We thank all of our family, friends, instructors and co-workers who helped see us through this process. Thank you for this opportunity and good luck to you all.

I want to be a better person, and it is because of this class that I was finally able to figure out how to go about doing just that. I know how to learn. I know that if I am going to learn in an effective manner I have to do things hands on. I have learned that my way isn’t always the best way. When it comes to solving a problem, I have to be open and willing to actually hearing the other side of the situation instead of plotting my defense in my head. I have learned that thinking critically isn’t something that is learned and mastered overnight. To apply critical thinking effectively I have to be able to be aware and practice the steps every single time. After I graduate and walk away with my Bachelor’s Degree, I want my success to continue. I want to be able to take what I have learned and apply it to my Project Manager career. For me, Academic Success will not end when that diploma is in my hand. As long as I have goals and strive to reach and set new goals, academic success will forever be in my
Reflection on the work I’ve done in this course and what I’ve learned Very few courses we do in our life impacts us deeply, and ever fewer amongst them brings about a change in the way we think, react and respond to situations. I am really thankful that I got one such opportunity to be a part of a curriculum which not just gave me the attitude to judge situations from a larger lens but also the confidence to delve with critical issues in life with ease. The process of ideation and personal introspection that went into it is sure to have brought about big changes in my perspective, and it certainly doesn’t just end there; the connect I intended and achieved to make with my blog readers, getting positive feedbacks from them and impacting their
Being well acknowledged about the above saying has pushed me a mile further for every aspect of my life. The four year engineering course in Information Technology has always been a beautiful experience and has inspired me to put the knowledge into my Masters degree. This would allow me to enhance my knowledge about technology and its pros and cons and the guidance I would need. Gone are those days when man had to slog for simple works, he has advanced into boundaries which are unimaginable and has made his life easy, being an essential part of such an advancement has always been my motive. To attain my goal, my first priority would be in the field of research which will consist experiencing the applications in the real world steered by comprehensive know-how about technology. Technology has prevailed and casted its spell to parts unknown and now has been imbibed into man.
