The definition of marriage varies depending on who you ask. Some people say it is a union between a man and woman, and others would argue that marriage is a union between two partners. The topic of same-sex marriage has been a growing debate in the last century. Seventeen states currently have a law that allows same-sex marriages, eight which have been passed since 2011 (ProCon.org). I believe that America is changing and it is time for the country as a whole to accept same-sex marriage. Imagine living in a world with no discrimination, or prejudice. While this is unrealistic, giving same-sex couples the right to marry is a step in the right direction. Times are changing and so is our country and it is time that every American learns to accept this. It is time to stop discriminating against others and give everyone the right to marry. This would create a better, more united country. In 100 years people will look back on this issue and realize that it was cruel to ever deny same-sex couples of their rights. The sooner this debate is over, the sooner we can have a better country with more love and less hate.
