Lebanon Missouri is a football town, they strive off of football. I always remember when I was little going to the high school football games and being so amazed at how many people were there to watch high school football. Billy just shrugged off the comment because in his mind, he would never stop playing football. Billy continued to progress in his athletic ability becoming a standout athlete in Football as well as Basketball, In High school he chose to focus solely on football because it was the love of his life and he knew he could get a scholarship to play. He was an all-state running back four years in a row in high school and voted as one of the top high school recruits in the entire country.
My best friend’s dad was the defensive coordinator for our local high-school team. Football players were always at his house and we were always watching game film. When Anthony and I were old enough to go to school we would go to the practices after school for a few hours, playing, and riding on the sleds as the football players pushed them around. When Anthony and I were about five years old Anthony’s dad gave us some old High-school jersey’s, pads, and helmets. This is when Football started to become a necessity in our lives.

My parents’ knew at the time that I love playing football, but they did not want me to get a concussion this I did not fully understand. Because not long after, sophomore year in high school I got my first concussion by played two-hand touch football. How it happened it was a weight lifting class and the class would play football and eventually two-hand touch exculpated to tackling. Football is more than just a contact sport. What are often disregarded are the benefits that come from the game.
In Friday Night Lights we see the theory of functionalism not only in the team, but the town and its dream of solidarity through winning the state championship. In a small town, such as Odessa, Texas, high school football helps to keep the town together by keeping it alive. On Friday nights, when the flood lights turn on inside the Permian stadium the strength of Odessa seems dependent on what will occur in that football stadium. Businesses shut down; families and community come together within the constraints of this stadium to cheer their team onto victory. Thus during football season, litt... ... middle of paper ... ... within the community and learning what is expected of them as they grow up.
If my son puts In so much effort on the field and practices hard he can become really big and go far. This quote says It all “The true competitors are the ones who always play to win.” (Tom Brady) That quote doesn't really speak about his career but It is just perfect to use because It can stand for anything that you want. If I put my son in little league and train him to become a very perfect football player he will become noticed when he hits high school “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.”(Vince Lombardi). When my son plays football It’s not just the training that can make him better It’s how he practices.
