After twelve years of school, it took me until now to figure out exactly why I had been there all those years. It was not to torture me by making me learn how to spell but to make sure that my classmates and I got the opportunity to make the most of ourselves. Opportunity that would come from learning as much as possible from books and beginning to see that the world focuses on more than just history and English . I owe my success in life and school to teachers who taught me to spell and to be respectful and responsible. Those quick to argue with me say that school's usefulness is shallow: deeper-real-life experiences truly educate a person. School should be seen not only as a place to study, but also as a place to learn about real life. People cannot depend on experience alone for education just as they cannot solely rely on information from school books to prepare them for life. The lessons, whether from a book or not, learned in school transcend the classroom to real life situations.
School, in essence, functions as a ladder to the future. The farther up the ladder a person goes, the more prepared for real life he will find himself. Respect is one of the keys to getting up the ladder and succeeding in many aspects of life. I grew up respecting my elders: whether it was my grandparents or the librarian, I have always had respect. The regard I have developed for teachers has come from knowing that I will need their help to make it through school and I can only get it by being respectful and polite.
To help students up the ladder, school indirectly teaches its students about respect. Although not found on the pages of any text book, learning lessons in respect can be very helpful. The idea of respect starts with teachers and often branches to the development of peer and self respect. Everyone has experienced a teacher that they couldn't stand and dreaded going to that class. It was times like that which challenged the respect that had begun to develop. In eight grade, my english teacher was one of the mose mean people I have ever met. I got a 0 on a quiz because I spelled one word wrong (it was not a spelling quiz). I hated going to her class, half the time, I just wanted to scream at her.
Proper respect for others begins by a person respecting their self. Respect is developed by expressing honor, leadership, value, and trust in a person. If everyone respects everyone someday, the world will become a seventh heaven. It is important to be respectful for safety, to abide by the law, because children are influenced by their elders’ actions, and because God says so. Motivation from peers can help a person realize there is always room to improve the level of respect a person exhibits. Respect was, is, and always will be a positive attribute for everyone to strive for in their lives.
School allows many opportunities to grow as a person, and show your personality. Within class I am always an active participant, I always add my input in discussion, and work to answers questions. I have always maintained good grades I was placed in advanced courses beginning in fourth grade and within all 3 years of highschool I have earned a weighted
This is just a short article inspired by the (Martin Luther KIng Jr.) this research was carried out through a questionnaire and the result showed a huge decline on respect in the schools.
The reader becomes aware of traditional paid advertising as well as certain methods that can capture an audience, such as the use of ethos, pathos, certain negative advertising, as well as focusing on a politicians' character. She also notes differences in gender and ethnic political advertising, which will become more prevalent as more females and politicians other other ethnicities run for office. However, the inclusion of various claims and lack of explanations can also be a weakness. Because Kaid includes many concepts, the reader is unable to determine an argument. Kaid references advertising techniques and trends, and based off research, makes claims of where research should continue. Moreover, when she makes claims of where research should continue, she does not provide statistics or proof as to why she believes that. For example, when discussing negative advertising, Kaid states, "a lot of research suggests that negative advertising is effective […]" (33). This however is vague, as Kaid fails to provide the reader with proof. Kaid's article incorporates a variety of sub-topics discussed in other readings, such as gender and ethnicity and web-based advertising, but unlike the other authors, did not provide a central argument. Rather, Kaid looks at several aspects of political advertising, and makes several claims. I believe Kaid made valid
Francis of Assisi was a poor man who astounded and inspired the Church by taking the gospel literally—not in a narrow fundamentalist sense, but by actually following all that Jesus said and did, joyfully, without limit and without a mite of self-importance. Francis was famous for his love of all creation. He called for simplicity of life, poverty, and humility before God. He worked to care for the poor. Thousands were drawn to his sincerity, piety, and joy. In all his actions, Francis sought to follow fully and literally the way of life demonstrated by Christ in the Gospels. My report is going to discuss the life and contributions of St. Francis of Assisi.
When I say respect for them I mean engaging in conversation and listening intently, having good eye contact, maintaining a look of interest, and asking good follow up questions. All of these examples show the individual you are invested with what they have to say. This in turn develops a positive relationship and it all stems from showing the person you respect them. This applies to every person you talk to and meet even if you disagree with someone. For example whenever I am in a lecture and the professor is talking about a particular subject I may not be interested in, I know that there is a mandatory level a respect that I need to attain in class. I will not be having a side conversation quietly, looking at my phone, or yawning. All of these examples will eventually be noticed from the Professor. I feel these efforts of mine do not go unnoticed because my professors have never had a problem with me and are very friendly outside of classes. As far as relationships
Respecting others is also another important aspect of your life because if you respect others they will respect you and more than likely you will become friends. Respect is obeying in class and not being rowdy in the hallway. It is the respect of their ideas and what they stand for. Respect is what brings people together, and if it is not used, it is what can tear people and families apart. Respecting your parents is very important in your life, respecting your parents can be doing something they tell you, like washing the ...
The chapter gives the background of Francis. He hailed from a well-off family and through the education he was able to access from the priest of his parish church, his spiritually developed. Francis even strips his secular clothes and becomes naked to the public just like “Christ and Adam” (Cunningham 20). The chapter helped me understand the transition of Francis into a performer. In addition, I learned about the importance of education in regard to the Christianity of Francis. The knowledge of this chapter is helpful in appreciating the grandness of education to the life of an individual.
After spending some time reading about effective teaching, I found that one of the key aspects that seemed to come up most was communication. I believe that as a teacher you will need to have a range of communication, interpersonal and group skills. Communication is not just about being able to speak with your students , but also include writing, reading, listening with your eyes and ears, and also body language.( Ornstein, Lasley ,2004) For effective communication a teacher must interact and communicate respect , there should always be respect for the students, Parents, Colleague’s and their network of educational professionals . I feel that listening deeply and giving credit for the student’s contributions will encourage respect from the students, a great example of this can be seen in the (Online course: Becoming a Teacher,2005). The Teacher’s Name is Anne Christodulou, and the communication with her students is continuous, respectful, shows a caring attitude, and provides a model of high ethical standards. Coulson (cited in Killen, 2009) describes: “Effective communicators as teachers that will relate well with students, explain clearly, make their expectations explicit, and engage the students.” I be...
Kaid (2004) noted that the use of political advertising in the United States carries the commercial coloration as a “promotional device whose use is dependent upon the market economy and the right and ability to purchase the means to promote products or services or, in the case of politics, candidates or ideas”. As such, most scholars studying political advertising think of it in the light of the traditional sense of advertising. For instance, many countries do not require or even allow their candidates or parties to purchase space or time for political advertising as they give free time on public broadcast stations for candidates to advertise themselves, opinions and ideas on issues about their suitability for the position they are vying
In the nineteenth century, the foundation of American literature had a profound change. This was called from Reason to Romance or Romanticism. With many contributions of famous writers such as Irving, Cooper, Bryant, and Poe composed the stories and poems which all of them had a great value in the American literature. What is the Romanticism and how dies it effect to the American literature? By taking some compositions from these writers, there will be good answers for those questions.
The main advantage of 3D printing is that a low number of goods can be produced at a relatively inexpensive cost, as compared to traditional manufacturing, which typically requires higher volume to lower costs (Grynol, 2013). 3D printing can skip many traditional manufacturing steps and go directly from an idea to a fin...
To begin with, the election in the campaign process and in democratic societies focuses on how each citizen has the right to vote, a potential for constructive change in leadership, whereby the voters are appealed to, in terms of political party affiliations. Jim Grenada and M. Wong reports that, “campaign advertisement define the new position or drawing policy distinction from the opponent and also have potential influence to the voters” (3). Democratic debates ...
Education plays a vital role in shaping tomorrows’ leaders. Not only can we become a better nation by acquiring the skills necessary to be productive members of a civilized society. Increase knowledge to actively achieve and meet challenges that can produce changes in which are productive for attaining business innovations, political and economic objectives.
Like many people, my personal experiences have shaped who I am. As a future educator, I want my students to respect me as a teacher, but understand that I will be there for every one of them, whenever they need me. I will not judge them; I will only encourage them to do their best. I will show them that learning can be fun and that school is more than just memorizing facts, it’s about opening your mind to new ideas and experiencing things that will change your
