The Importance of Early Education

Although, the act and art of teaching is not essentially changing because education is about conveying knowledge and understanding from one person to another. We are in the era of technology, and from here on out technology will only grow exponentially with many benefits for today’s education. Tom Imburgia of Cardinal O’Hara high school, describes how teaching is evolving:
“I would like to emphasize the difference between information and knowledge. Anyone with an internet connection can access the world’s information reserve, understanding the content and assimilating it as knowledge is a different issue. I think the tools for teaching are evolving very quickly and certainly the content grows every day. Laptops, the internet, mobile phones and other smart devices are merely new tools to be applied to the age old process of creating synaptic connections.
Much like biological evolution, the evolution in education is also dependent upon the environment teachers and students exist within. Most recently, the demand for compliance to Common Core standards has driven curriculum decisions and therefore lesson planning and lessons themselves. Those who make a practice of studying the process of education delineate and promote theories which find acceptance or rejection for reasons that are at times impossible to discern. Often it seems that the temperature on the ground and in the classrooms as reported by the teachers is ignored if solicited at all” (personal communication, April 8, 2014).
Every teacher instills their lessons with different techniques, which exaggerates the importance of in-class teaching. Technology is on the rise, but can be very beneficial. Many of my current, and past teachers use smart boards, which consist o...
