The Silver Isles has a democratic government system that is similar to how Canada is governed. The citizens in The Silver Isles believe that voting in an election is the most important act of political participation in a democracy. However, similar to Canada you must be a citizen over the age of 18 to participate in the voting process. In order to win a majority government a political party must win over half of the 54 ridings in the country. With this, they will have enough votes to pass legislation. The Prime Minister is elected through a voting system called an election. The country is divided into various ridings, where there are representatives from each political party. Members of the governing party sit to the right of the speaker. The Prime Minister and the Members of the Cabinet sit in the front row. The opposition party sits to the left of the speaker, with the leader of the opposition sitting directly across from the Prime Minister. The next ranked opposition party gets to choose their seats and so on. Members who do not have a designated party sit in the desks to the left of the speaker along the back rows. In order to have a majority government the political party should have over half the seats in the house of commons. To have a minority government, the political party would have less seats in the house of commons than the opposition political party. The difference between a minority and majority government is that majority governments do not need the help from other parties to pass laws because they have the majority amount of votes needed. However, all the minority political parties can join together to gain the majority amount of votes. The Silver Isles is similar to the way Canada’s political government is run. The Silver Isles is democratic, and recognizes the citizens rights to ensure a safe, well-mannered
