Throughout the years, using technology in classroom has increased tremendously. It went just using pen and a piece of paper to copy down what the teacher is explaining on the chalkboard to having a tablet or IPad to take note from what is being projected on a special screen. The question is, is this style of teaching helping or hurting the student body? Technology can be something as complex as an overhead projection monitor, to something as simple as a black and white printer.

There are many ways teachers are choosing to use technology. Technology is a strategy that is very beneficial if used in the right way. There are so many different ways teachers can incorporate technology into the classroom. A survey was taken by teachers across the United States, they asked thousands of teachers from different grade levels, whether or not their school has technological resources and whether or not they use them in their classroom. 76.1 percent of the teachers that were surveyed said that they use desktop computers and 89 percent of the teachers said that they use internet access whether it be wired internet or wireless internet (Beath, Jones, Kervin, Verenikina, 2013). This survey shows that now, majority of the teacher across the United States incorporates technology in their everyday teaching, but is this helping the students learn. One teacher actually commented that “the ability to access sites through IWB means I can share a wealth of resources with my kids which I otherwise wouldn’t have access to” (Beath, Jones, Kervin, Verenikina, 2013).
