“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” – Robert Louis Stevenson. Yes, I have googled “quote about traveling” which helped me quickly explain my situation, but luckily for me this magnificent quote that came up, which to my surprise, resonated with me entirely. I honestly have traveled for 18 hours straight to help my brother with a delivery, out of pure boredom of my everyday life, and just so that I could travel. Everyone in my family told me that it was the biggest waste of my time, and they were right, but I didn’t care. This idea of traveling began to sprout when I went to the other side of the world. My first of five days wasn’t anything special, we settled in at my aunt’s place and had a conversation about how our lives have been and this and that, but then the night passed and out came the second day. We had decided to travel a bit and see this town called Graz where my relatives lived. Through every street we traveled, with my jaw dropped, we observed the very exquisite architecture and vehicles, the sight of so many BMW’s, Audi’s, and Porsche’s can make grown men, who take interest, cry with tears of joy and satisfaction. We then proceeded towards the most famous of the tourist attractions, a thousand-year-old castle called “Schlossberg” which had a wide landscape view of the entire city. That second day, I had learned that there was huge difference between a place someone saw on a screen and a place someone experienced and took the time to fully appreciate. “Do they work?” I asked him. “Most of them don’t, they just sit around at home” he replied. That day I learned how lucky I was with the family that I had. An easy life isn’t always the best, but it’s good to see different lifestyles so that one can reflect on their life. Finally, the last couple of days were more of a blur, but nonetheless they played a role in the lesson I had learned. We went to the city center to have some fun walking around and eating the hot dogs at the stands there. As I sat there eating the hot dog, I noticed that the crowd was a little low on men. Seriously, there were at least 10 women for every man there, and not just any women, these ones knew how to take good care of themselves and their appearance to the scarce amount guys there. It was at that time that I fully regretted learning Spanish instead of German, otherwise I could have said hello and then showed of my German language skills by counting to one hundred.
