The family is considered to be the primary unit of society. It is the foundation on which the county builds its morals, values and culture. The family passes on practices, ideals and beliefs to their members and since it is the smallest unit of a community these are fermented into the minds of each member of each generation. This is why it is important to make sure that each family sustains the Filipino treasures and practices so that the younger generations can take care of them. The dynamics of each family differs depending on the situation under which they live. Their perceptions and beliefs are shaped by the environment they are in. Society is much freer and there is a sense of liberty. People no longer live in as much fear as they did before. Media is not as controlled as it was before and we have more resources with the advancement of technology and the widespread access to the internet. Presently, families are much different from the way they were then. We have since then established our sense of community. We often gather with other families to discuss different kinds of things. There is no fear in terms of the dissemination of information. We are able to celebrate our culture much more than we were able to before. There is now the freedom to say what we want to say as long as we are able to defend our opinions. Young Filipinos are now given more opportunities to explore. Filipinos are able to access large bodies of knowledge that have not been altered by the government. In this way, we are able to form solid stands and perceptions. The youth are now active in socio-political issues and no longer wish to be caged like their ancestors. They now celebrate those who speak their minds and fight for what they believe
