The importance of the school education is undeniable in the modern society, and the role of the school in the development of personality and cognitive functions of the student was evident by the numerous investigations. “Education either functions as an instrument which is used to facilitate the integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and bring about conformity, or it becomes the practice of freedom” (Freire, 2016). Nowadays important question consists of the role of the destination of school and various aspects of it, as well as the role of curriculum or the organisation of the classes. Comparing both articles (White 2005), (Young 2011) what discuss the main issues of this theme and try to understand the …show more content…
The author considers that the main charge of the composition of the program and the creation of the proper methods of the teaching should be in the administration of each school and not by the central government. But to be honest, it is important to remember, that the government plays the role of the buffer to the changes in the educational system, the control of the authorities is evident. Schools might have the proper right to make the decisions about the methods of the teaching in one particular school, but in general, the government has to be able to intervene in the educational process, to control it, supply and help in the case of the need. The examples of the development of the educational process were described in the work of Wright (2008) and Eggleston (1975). In this very case the position of Young is more suitable, he offered to provide an individual program to each school, that would be coordinated with the particular services of the government and the local authorities. The aim of it is furnishing of the system that would give a strong knowledge and “create the conditions for learners to acquire powerful knowledge and both structures... the boundaries between schools and professional and academic «knowledge producing communities» and between schools and the everyday knowledge of local communities.”(Young
In my opinion, I agree with the writer’s explanation on the importance of high school, and the relationship between the teachers and children, because due to the world global change the responsibilities of teachers are imperative and crucial. The teachers stand as the foundation between the teenagers and their radiance, since they encourage the teens to put in their best in whatever, they are indebted to do. Nonetheless, children are the future generation as such the teachers are to instruct them morally and ethically in order for them to be productive citizens in the society. Consequently, as teachers, their duty is to build up teenagers because whatever the teens learn from youth guides them to adulthood. The teachers also impact the knowledge which changes the life of a teenager, since they are very receptive and resourceful.
Learning is a sort of joint educational activities that formed by both teachers and students under the aims of educational declaration. It concerns on how students capture the knowledge and skills of science and art, attaching more importance to individual’s development. The commencement of the teaching process relies on the understanding of the learning process so that the learning theory is of significance in the field of education. There are various understandings of learning, which make teaching either lead a change emphasising on external behaviour or focus on individual’s self-construction. It indicates that teaching staff is not troubled due to the learning, but the interpretation.
As a human being, everyone has rights which protect and support them for their identity. Each person has his own identity, each institution has its own identity, each community has its own identity, and each race has its own identity. So everywhere we live in our society has identity. Identity is a privilege and everyone needs it. In educational field, two forms of educational systems emerged out through Paulo Freire’s essay “The Banking Concept of Education” in which he explores the role that schools and educational system play in the production of national identity. The purpose of this article is to address the problems of education system which face in community. In this article, he presents the analysis of the teacher-student relationship.
Education is a topic that can be explored in many ways. Education is looked at in depth by both Richard Rodriguez in his essay, “The Achievement of Desire”, and by Paulo Freire in his essay, “The ‘Banking’ Concept of Education.” After reading both essays, one can make some assumptions about different methods of education and exactly by which method Rodriguez was taught. The types of relationships Rodriguez had with his teachers, family and in life were affected by specific styles of education.
We live in a society where we are surrounded by people telling us that school/education and being educated is the only way to succeed. However, the school system is not up to the standards we want it to uphold. There are three issues we discuss the most which are the government, the student, and the teacher. In John Taylor Gatto 's essay “Against School”, we see the inside perspective of the educational system from the view of a teacher. In “I Just Wanna Be Average”, an essay written by Mike Rose, we hear a student 's experience of being in a vocational class in the lower level class in the educational system when he was supposed to be in the higher class. Both Gatto and Rose give their opinions on how the educational system is falling apart. Today the government is only trying to get students to pass, making it hard for teachers to teach what they want. Students are affected everyday by the school system. They sit there - bored - and do not think that the teachers care, making the
...al processes that do not center on the traditional school; But at the same time, the performance of the schools and the basic values of the schools will be of increasing concern to society as a whole, rather than being considered professional matters that can safely be left to educators. In our society where the minority of knowledge workers are starting to dominate society, there is a potential for social conflict. The productivity of the non-knowledge, services worker will become the social challenge of the knowledge society. On this, it will depend on the ability of the knowledge society to give decent incomes, jobs, and with them dignity and status, to non-knowledge workers. The reason I end with the ‘knowledge’ concept is because Drucker analysis and his vision is paving us the way for us, the future scholars, to think in policies that addresses the less fortune.
Several parents worry about the quality of education their child will receive throughout their academic career. Likewise, most parents do not observe the classrooms where their child will receive an education; some classrooms are colorful and bursting with life while others are dull and sterile. Being able to notice these differences can aid a parent in distinguishing the type of learning that occurs in the school environment. Paulo Freire further investigates the learning process and education in his essay, “The Banking Concept of Education,” where he criticizes conventional schooling and enforces the necessity of progressing towards liberating education. Although, Freire condemns the banking concept and praises the problem-posing method of
The environment through which education is realized is critical for the learning children. In this aspect, there exist many forms of schooling that support education of children; public schooling, home schooling and private schooling. However, each method of schooling has its own advantages and disadvantages compared to other schooling methods. The above arguments are based on both home schooling and public schooling. Each schooling method focuses on pertinent issues that make the method as the most ideal compared to the other. Moreover, these arguments focus in realization of specific goals of education and education environments as indicated in each subheading.
It is common that most people believe success means having a high-powered job and earning a lot of money. However, to a great extent, success is defined as a situation in which a person has achieved his/her goal and is able to support him/herself morally and financially after completing the educational process. In school thorough a good education, students learn how to plan to achieve their goals. They also learn how to think critically and creatively, and improve the other skills they need. By exploring different subjects and fields they recognize their interests and abilities which lead them to achieve success. In schools students are encouraged to overcome their weaknesses through their strengths. John Gatto is imprudent when he stated in his article, Against School, schooling is not what brings people to success ,because schools play a big role for students to reach their goals and be successful.
With education being one of the most critical fields of society, the importance of its effectiveness is just as significant. The overall purpose of this theory is to develop a set of unified principles that integrates the various sciences (natural and social). In an effort to better understand this theory, a careful reflection on the structures and functions of the system must be reviewed.
Education of teachers needs to strengthen and stress upon the main attributes of a profession, such as, the systematic theory, rigorous training over a specified duration ,authority, community sanction, ethical code and culture, generating knowledge through research and specialization. It is acknowledged that formal professional training on continuous basis is necessary for becoming a good teacher as it caters to the development of one’s personality and sharpening of communication skills and commitment to a code of conduct. Emerging Trends and Innovations Innovation is usually understood as the introduction of something new and useful, like introducing new methods, techniques, or practices or new or altered products and services. Schools or teacher education institutions can carry out innovations or experimentation on any aspect of their work related to teaching-learning, training or management of schools in order to improve efficiency of the institution to overcome problems and difficulties, they face in day to day functioning. The present structure of teacher education is supported by a network of national, provincial and district level resource institutions working together to enhance the quality and effectiveness of teacher preparation programs at the pre-service level and also through in- service programs for serving teachers throughout the
The author studied five schools of different social classes. Its object of study is to verify that there are differences in the curriculum explicit and hidden in standard primary schools social stratification of knowledge. Furthermore, he studies the hidden curriculum Anyon reached the following conclusions: In the working-class schools, life inside is marked by the resistance that students opposed to the demands of school. In the middle class, it is anxiety before school and social promotion opportunities. At school for wealthy families, life inside the brand narcissism. And at school for the elite, it is the idea of excellence that sets the tone. The ways these curricula favor a certain relation to the world of work are explained in different methods and techniques. Thus, in working-class schools noted that the tasks taking place inside preparing for a mechanical and routine work by rote learning. In middle school class, the finding of more conceptual and less emphasis on skills, along with increased content, led him to think that this is how Anyon prepare them for administrative work.
After twelve years of school, it took me until now to figure out exactly why I had been there all those years. It was not to torture me by making me learn how to spell but to make sure that my classmates and I got the opportunity to make the most of ourselves. Opportunity that would come from learning as much as possible from books and beginning to see that the world focuses on more than just history and English . I owe my success in life and school to teachers who taught me to spell and to be respectful and responsible. Those quick to argue with me say that school's usefulness is shallow: deeper-real-life experiences truly educate a person. School should be seen not only as a place to study, but also as a place to learn about real life. People cannot depend on experience alone for education just as they cannot solely rely on information from school books to prepare them for life. The lessons, whether from a book or not, learned in school transcend the classroom to real life situations.
In our culture today, there is a huge emphasis on education, especially higher education. Society basically says the more educated you are, the better off you are. That is pretty much true if you live by the means of society. The basic idea that education, especially a college education, is something that people should pursue even into their adult years is not by any means a new idea.
