In today’s society technological advancements have completely revolutionized the way information is transferred and received. Information no longer flows from the few to the many with little interactivity. Data flows from the many to the many, multimodality and interactively. Social media and the internet effect the political knowledge of presidential elections, and voting while also impacting the way individuals learn, interact, and seek knowledge in civic engagement. Although, technological advancements have brought forth numerous beneficial attributes, it is safe to say that there are also negative connotations that derive from it. Social media can be utilized to advertise a candidate’s campaign and allow them to interact with their voters while lowering the cost of advertisements, as well as saving time and effort. The knowledge that the internet provides on political views and civil life can help voters or supporters become more informed on current events. Technology also helps encourages individuals to register to vote, and helps them find out where voting booths are located. Because of technology people can avoid physically being in a voting booth, long lines, and can help with those that cannot take off work. This tactic encourages more people to vote and is very impactful for low income workers, single moms, or those who live in poor environments where the nearest voting poll is to far. Due to the convenience that comes with being able to vote discreetly, and avoid voter intimidation, voters are more likely to interact and participate in voting. Therefore, bringing more voter awareness to the communities which can help bring forth more and effective
