Some people think parents are the worst judges of their child’s ability. The emotional hardship and impressments blinds parents from seeing that their child may not be want to be into sports. Instead of identifying this lack of ability, some parents push harder and end up pushing the child too far. When children don’t want to or asked sometime they are forced to compete, they are placed in hard situations where they continually fail. Instead of building up healthy self-esteem from sports participation, the repeated embarrassment can cause the child to become stressed, anxious, and depressed. Get your kids used to the idea of playing an sports and being part of a team. Let them watch a game or a practice. Take them to the ball field a week or so before their own practice begins and walk with them around the field so they get the idea and become focused and find the delight in it. Let them wear their uniform or sports shoes around the house so they’ll get excited about being a team player. The number of children playing team sports is falling because many are not interested in being apart of a team, they rather sit home and play it on video games, phones or tablets. Being that some kids don’t even like leaving the house to play a sport, you have sport games like NBA 2k18, Madden NFL, and many, many more. Parents should encourage their kids to be active and play sports but if their child isn’t into it or like sports the answer will be no.
